Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I'm sure others have noticed this already, and its probably already been discussed here, but the weirdest thing I've noticed in my 90GTA is when I pulled out the rear locking cargo box trim in the rear of the car. Turns out that box is made of cardboard! Ie: bum construction material.
To me, that is ultra cheap and not what id expect to find in a GTA. And people wonder why I don't buy american cars anymore... so whoever ok'd the use of cardboard deserves to be slapped imo (a pimp slap with talc powder).

Worst thing I ever found other than change, 10$ worth of canadian tire money, cassettes, ect. was some love stains in the back seat, I guess my car really is a chick magnet

Not in my camaro but found two weird items under the back seat in my 67 charger:
1. Dead mouse.
2. High School ID card of a girl from Spokane, Washington. Now what was that doing in the back seat of a charger in the late 1970's???

What do you honestly expect out of 18 to nearly 30 year old cars, that were made to be somewhat affordable? An engine bay cover lined with gold, used as a heat deflector, such as on the Mclaren F1?

Cool. Go buy something like a 2009-2010 Toyota Corolla, then complain about the quality of American cars, as your gas pedal is stuck, and you find yourself doing 110 or 120. Whatever them slow things are capable of.

I've already given American car companies enough of my tax dollars. Well, Ford at least kept it real.
Enjoy your cardboard
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
My cardboard is gone, I gutted the interior. I see we have another tool bag here, who most likely depends on a 90's car as his DD, yet, will insult it.
I wonder why so many trolls choose to target an oddball car, such as third gens.
What'd you do, buy a Civic, and become amazed with the infinite power of VTAK? Get lost if you're going to insult a car, which this forum is dedicated to.

Ford is hurting just as bad as everyone else. Its just they own a lot of detroits malls and farms and are using that money, plus what they got from selling off jag and land rover.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
The topic is weird, and I find the cardboard weird. I absolutely love my GTA. Its a rare 90 and is in excellent condition now. That doesn't mean its perfect, or that I can't poke fun at some of the decisions the design engineers made (or the CEOs at the top getting 6 figure bonuses off our tax dollars for that matter).
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Having some fun by making a playful comment about a cheap design, and insulting a car, making it known that you won't buy American because of a material used to keep costs down in the early 90's, are two different things.
Third gens personally aren't my favorite car either, I'll more than likely never own a second, and I will, and have agreed that a lot of cars look better, and perform better out of the box. However, you'll never see me down right insulting them, because of something that you'd have to go out of your way to see, that would not include normal use.
Were you one of the kids who boycotted the school bus, because of that fake leather on the seats?
Now see, that's a good joke! Not that it'd matter if I insulted a school bus anyhow.

dont have a pic and it no longer in the car but some one put a kill switch for the starter under the dash and hung it up with the metal straping you use for pipes in a building.

my first 84 Camaro had all the parts in the doors for power door locks, but the wiring didn't go out of the doors and the switches weren't there, bought it from the first owner and everything was original, so it came that way from the factory.

I think i have you all beat haha, i bought a 1989 camaro w/ a 5.7 from a guy from Cleveland. Well first off he said that he didnt have a job, okay thats fine. He was in his 40s, gold on every part of his body, still okay right? Well he claimed he rebuilt the motor 2 years ago when he bought the car, and never drove it in the winter (6 months) and put 30 FREAKIN THOUSAND miles on it! Can someone say drug dealer? haha okay so I deffinately seached the entire car. I didnt find any drugs, but stuffed behind the radio deck were boxes of condoms, UNUSED. He was married, so I, personally, think he was cheating on his wife, cuz wat wife would look behind a radio? okay horrible AND creepy. But wait, theres more. There was a kitchen knife jus sittin in the back of the car...sharp as he// too. But worst of all? Stuffed under the backseat what a clear bag that said "BIOHAZARD" on it and inside was wet, white stuff.....let your imaginations run wild. ew.

[quote=novafirebirdguy;4138229]Well in my firebird I found three packs of unopened marlboro cigarettes. Some firebird interior trim that doesn't belong to my car. And when I jacked up the rear end a book fell out of nowhere, the title of the the book is "The Car" go figure.
quote]
That is a pretty good book I had finished reading it about a year ago. You should give it a read
.
Well as for my car when I was taking it on the test drive (my mom wanted to drive first) I pulled down the passenger visor and someone had drawn "F**k you" in the caked on dirt in the mirror.
There are two IROC wheel badges in center console (they go on my car but havent put on yet), a bunch of random screws
, and an insurance slip from 1995. It even had the name of the previous owner on it which made me think he could be the origional owner.
Also when me and my friend were working on the radio (changing out speakers too) we opened up the sail panel, unscrewed the speaker, and pulled it out. We pull it out and diconnect and notice the wire had a lot of slack to it. So he pulls out an entire wire that looked as though it had dry rotted in half. So we then rewired all of the speakers. When we reinstalled the dash we had some more left over screws (only about two but
).

When i bought my '83 z I found the dealership sticker under the drivers seat along with $5,000 in reciepts for car parts, haha there was also some tampons in the rear storage area... And when I got my '85 Iroc last year I found a box of condoms that expired in '89, an ash try full of stems, and the remains of a shattered bowl, (not the kind you eat out of) under the backseat.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Just found it last night. I had to pull the speedo in order to get the headlight switch out. After getting the speedo cluster out I noticed something in the housing that looked like a note rolled up on a piece of paper. When I pulled it out I found that it was a joint. Prolly put there in the factory. There is no way for it to get there without someone putting it there. Those factory people do funny things.

you guys should check under the ashtray, probably the easiest place to hide stuff because it pops right out. OR smart ones can put it in that trim insert by your door handles, the one the clips right out.

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Have owned my 91 for 14 years now and disassembled the interior many times and never found anything note worthy, but in my 99 I got just over a year ago I came across two odd items. First thing I found when I went to look at it. In the trunk was one of those really small charcol grills. I though that was weird but whatever. After I got it home I gutted the interior to clean it really good only leaving the headliner and dash in and found small pieces of dog food every where and thought nothing of it. I just figured the PO had a dog like many people do. Well fast forward a year and I was replacing the front seat belts last week and when I dropped the headliner dog food came raining down. When I saw that I was afraid I was going to find mouse crap or something chewed, but found neither, so I called my dog over and let him clean the dog food up for me and I vaccumed up the rest.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
Bump!
I found out probably the worst thing in my car ever when I pulled the back carpet... Carpet backing was dripping in oil and I had a small puddle of oil in the bottom of the hatch from the PO. I think I found out why I couldn't get my car to stop smelling like oil no matter how much vacuuming and febreezing I did.

I found a trouble code scanner in my center console. Previous owner probably got some check engine light codes which i used to get until i changed my mass air flow sensor. I have had my 88 Iroc for 8 years with no problems. Scanner is now part of my tool box.
Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I was pulling out the carpet, to fix rust on the floor panels, and I found a bunch of dead and alive red ants. the car was originally from missouri, which im guessing is where the red ants came from. and I honestly have no idea if I got all the ants out, but I hope so haha

in my iroc i found two new fuel filters, a master cylinder, 4 new wheel bearings (po said "camaro has all new bearings and a new master cylinder in it" ..ash-hole..) radio install kit, my driver side mirror, and passenger seat belt..
But in my '99 interceptor with police equipment (radio, sirens, red&blues, traffic advisor, etc) I found regular stuff like change, etc., but also: a bag of deicer, three random length 2x4's (1 to 3ft), 9mm & .380 ammo, a ticket book, about 100 towing warning cards, keys, S&W handcuffs (like the other guy!), a ton of indian bead jewelry, a police association notebook, a couple of ladies' HR/logistics company badges, and 2 off brand condoms..

Re: No doubt a pointless thread, but what's the weirdest thing youv'e found in your c
I'm kind of disappointed. Two cars so far, and not a single interesting thing. The IROC had change in it, and I just bought a 2001 Mustang GT 5 speed yesterday. Guess what I found?! Two pennies!
Although, there was already enough neat stuff inside. A BBK cold air intake, 3.73 gears, B&M short throw shifter, 18x9 black FR500 wheels up front, 18x10 FR500's out back sitting on 285-35's, 40 series Flowmasters, a Kenwood KVT-717 DVD head unit with a 7" LCD touch screen, the Mach 460 sound system option, charcoal/black leather interior, Steeda functional race wing. Well over $3,000 in aftermarket bits, and I got it with only 86K for $6,200. Heck, just the 18" FR500 wheels and Sumitomo tires were over $1,200.

Now to keep this Third Gen related, let's see a picture of them together, being the best buddies that Camaros and Mustangs are.

They're bonding.

Now, thumbs up for a completely unnecessary, over-complicated 7" LCD touch screen radio head-unit. LOL.

This is what Shadow Z has been busy doing. Making money, and making a deal on a Mustang. At least now I'll be hanging around TGO more. Well, until I decide to buy myself a 2004-2006 Yamaha R1 a few months from now. It's time to make a collection of toys, I miss my old bike, a Yamaha YZ250 two stroke. But now it's almost time for a road bike, a very fast one.

In my new 91 GTA, I found an aerosol can hidden behind the radio for whatever reason.

That's pretty much how the geometry of the Mustang's stock K-member is.

My wheels just look even further back than normal because the silver on black combo contrasts pretty well. But hey, that's one more thing that a Third Gen has under it's belt, I think my IROC has a pretty good stance going on.

inside my 83 i found a note from the previos owner that he wrote to his mother about turning himself in to the police and that he loved her and sorry for being a terrible son and on and on. but to the other stories i used to work at a dealership a back in 2000 lady brought her 30th anniversary TA in for some work. and i **** you not she had a years worth of bugers wiped on the side of the drivers seat. on the white leather. if it would have been a guy i would have punched him for doing that to that car.

I found a Klein brand wire cutters between the wiring harness and brake booster. Thats not too weird but, I drove the car for 6 months like that. I'm surprised it didn't fall out. I never noticed it until I pulled the motor.
