85 sterring wheel swap back to stock
I have a 1985 z28 and when i purchased it, it had a chain link sterring wheel. besides being hideous it is small and difficult to use. i removed the 3 retaing screws and big center and when i put the new(just purchased stock wheel and horn button)on it was too big and would not line up. my question is...........is their an adpter plate from facoty on these? i have searched and cannot find any illustrations of what a stock wheel looks like with horn button off.i know im not explaing this correctly but hard to put into words i appreciate any help i cana get.

The stock wheel slides onto the shaft, and gets tightened down with the nut in the middle. There are no "3 screws" that hold it on, thats just the way that aftermarket steering wheels connect. Remove the adapter that the aftermarket wheel used to mount to the column, and it should slide on, then tighten it down.

The factory wheel does have an adapter, or "mounting hub". If you can't find one, there are some uplevel late 80's-early 90's S-10's that use the same mounting hub.

anyone that has ever put a chain steering wheel on any car should be beaten with a bat. good job removing that offense to good taste from your car.

Junkyard is your best bet. I think I have a mounting hub though, on an S10 wheel.
