Loose air vents
I've got another dash that I'm preparing to put in my camaro. But the air vents are all loose and kinda flop around. How can I remedy this problem?
I've got all the vent louvers pulled out and cleaned up. It looked like there was some sort of foam in there to prevent them from flopping around. I was thinking about putting some thin weatherstrip back on them in the same spot, but I thought that someone here might know of something better to use.

Re: Loose air vents
Just did this repair on all six dash vents..... now their all nice and snug and stay where you put them.
I didn't use velcro but a dense 1/16" foam rubber I picked up at a craft shop in a sheet 10 x 12".
I got 1/8 " also but didn't need it. It's black and I used two way tape to adhere it to the vents. Just cut half circles and stuck it where the old foam was.
They can be a bit tricky to get out especially the lower small ones. I used a screw driver to pry up on the center buttons that hold them in place being carfull not to break the plastic.
The smaller ones I worked out from top and bottom together. I wet them with a little spit to slide them back in.
Do this repair if yours are loose... you'll be glad you did.

Re: Loose air vents
I also did the o rings on the vent pins. Picked them up at home depot. The hard part was carefully removing the vents as not to break any of them or the surrounding plastic. Once was all said and done, fantastic.
