Lefty loosey. The **** has some type of threadlocker on it, so you have to twist like hell to crack it loose.

Re: shifter ****,how to remove?
Our. " T " shifter handle has a staple-looking clip.
Set the park brake, put in Neutral.
Look at the dashboard side of the shifter handle for the small
holes. Push thru the holes with something like a screwdriver
from an eyeglasses kit a lil at a time, & look at the palm
side for the " staple " flat end coming out, then pull it out
with needle nose pliers. Try not to lose it!! Lil buggers are a
pain to look for if it falls between the console & seat!

Re: shifter ****,how to remove?
lefty loosey?...you are saying it's left hand thread?
if so,would never have even given that a thought.
it makes sense though if you were speed shifting
and the shifter ball came loose?

If you "twist like hell" before you remove that staple , your going to be in a world of hurt.

Automatic or standard transmission?
YEAR?
If its a stick with a stock ball head it should just unscrew.
If its a automatic with the leather covered ball head it will
either depending on year have a staple in the front lower part
of the ball OR you have to remove the release cap on top of
the ball and take out the snap ring then pull it off.
My 84 has the snap ring and no staple..................

Please for the love of GOD, tell me you did not snap that retention clip! Auto's have retention clips for obvious reasons, if it's stick just twist it like your opening a door ****(leftee loosee). If it's an auto, look above cause TTOPHAVOC is spot on. Take your time and get this one right. Good luck

On a side note, where can you purchase the position indicator? After replacing the illumination bulb, I noticed that my gear position indicator is missing. Any help?

Re: shifter ****,how to remove?
sonjaab, thank you!!!
GotmyZ, i've been going to the junk yard to get my parts, sometimes i'm lucky and other times nope. If i can't find anything there then i try googling parts. If that doesn't work well then i ask in here, lol. Its not hard looking for parts but its hard being lucky to find them.

Classic Industries has a catalog that is strictly for Camaro. Google them, order the catalog. There isnt much that youd need that they dont have. Been rebuilding my 92 mostly from that catalog...

Re: shifter ****,how to remove?
I can assume the 90 cars DO NOT have the "brake to shift" interlock so
you don't need to press the brake pedal to shift out of park.
Yes, you should have to push the release button down to shift out of
Park. If u are able to shift out of park without pushing the button down
then the "mechanic" screwed something up in the shifter release.
