Does anyone know what the bag on the dash is?
Hey guys, sorry if this is obvious, I've been searching and haven't been able to find any info on this.
I've seen some Camaros and Firebirds (particularly Firebirds) that have this sort of bag or pocket thing hanging from the dash. I've seen them on a 92 that said "25th Anniversary" and I see them on trans ams all the time that say firebird.
Just wondering what these things are actually called and if it's possible to get one? I think they're kinda cool
I appreciate any help

Yup it's a map pocket and is seen predominantly on Firebirds.

Because there's no glove box. Gloves and maps. How quaint.

I've never seen a Camaro pocket, only Bird pockets on the dash.

As I recall, there are holes in the dash (maybe four) and there are ribbed posts that push into the holes.

youll need one that was pulled properly, the little plastic pegs are easily damaged in removal so that they dont hold the pocket tight to the dash. They are tough to replace, but if they are not to badly mauled the plastic posts can be reshaped. best way is if you have the dash out (especially if you are retro fitting a camaro, because your ecm and other stuff is right behind there) then you can make the holes more easily and you can reinforce the plastic posts with some plastic glue or washer tabs. I guess you will also have to remove the firebird logo somehow

I took the simple route and mounted it on the door panel.

The only camaro to have a factory one was the '87 convertables i believe where they advertised the "anniversary edition" or whatever.

So how do you mount it to the door panel? In the same fashion as you would to the dash? with holes?

What is it? It's useless, that's what it is! Seriously, couldn't you have just given me a glovebox instead? They did the same thing on 1969-77 Corvettes. Stupid.

Stupid is the god-awful after market glovebox that Classic Industries sold a number of years ago. It was big and bulky and looked entirely out of place in our cars.

I did install a plain one on the pass side door panel of my IROC though.
