Interior Restoration

I have a 1988 Firebird Formula, and was wondering what year 3rd gen interiors would be compatible with my car other than 88'.

Thanks!

Re: Interior Restoration

There is a lot pf pieces that interchange between different years/models of 3rd gens. theres even a few things you can put in there from 4th gens (like the seats). You would have to give a lot more specifics to get the answers you seek.

Re: Interior Restoration

The carpet, seats, center column, AC and radio controls, door panels, i think the only thing that doesn't need to be replaced is the panels on the walls on the trunk...

Oh and the dash is fine except for one small crack on the drivers side, I might also replace that in the future.

Re: Interior Restoration

carpet would be any 82-92 third gen as far as i know, the seats will be the same thing. you can even get a set out of a 4th gen fbody, they bolt right in. ac controls will have to come from a 3rd gen. the radio can either be from a 3rd gen, and theres some other cars radios that work. im not all that sure on that one though. or you can just get an aftermarket radio. door panels designs differ from year to year and if you have manual or power windows. but they all fit on the doors, they just look different. dash pad would have to come from a 3rd gen bird.

Re: Interior Restoration

Are you sure all third gen seats are compatible? I heard somewhere that the seat bolt pattern changed in 88'. The reason for this thread is that I'm trying to find a compatible donor car that I can salvage the majority of the interior from. Although I might opt for fourth gen seats!

Re: Interior Restoration

the seats might have different options, but the bolts in the floor are all the same. go 4th gen seats. they are way more comfy and can be had for fairly cheap.

Re: Interior Restoration

I'm not sure about these.
After my interior revamp is over I have a broken steering column held together by tie wire to tend too! (Oh boy)

Re: Interior Restoration

you can swap a the column from a 3rd gen, youll just want to use a column that uses the same style wheel and is VATS equiped if your car is.
