I have an 85 z28 and I have all the interior stripped on the inside because I'm installing new carpet and getting my seats upholstered. But I need a gear shifter **** as well for an automatic tranny. Mine has the round one with the push button.

Does anyone know if the 87-92 automatic ***** will fit? Or even the 93-02 automatic *****?

 

they should fit, i have a 94 **** on my firebird, i also have a fake leather **** from a saturn but i didnt like the way it feels, just go to a junk yard and find some, i paid a dollar for both of these

 

NO they won't. I know because I ran into this problem. The newer style shifter **** uses a different style clip than the round style. To get and use the newer style ***** you need to get the newer style shifter assembly. My guess is 88-up because they all use the clips thst go into the front. Mines from a 90

 

ok, my bad, but if thats the case then its 86 and up because the fit just fine on mine

 

mines an 86 and had the round shifter ****... it wouldnt work because it doesnt have the slit in the front of the shifter rod to let the clip slide into it, he needs an 88-up shiftetr assembly

ok, so, then now im wondering what hasnt been molested in my car -_- BUT i found a round **** at the junk yard today, if you want it let me know and ill grab it for you and how do you get it off anyways? i couldent figure it out

 

I've got a couple of round ***** with good buttons and at least one circlip that holds it on. Signs of use, but works good if you can't find one yourself. Can send pics and more info to your email if interested.

You will need to still have the plastic rod that goes down the shaft and actuates the shifter mechanism, I don't have that

 

i will say henry is a good guy to buy from, iv bought from him in the past.

 

Mine still has the plastic piece the triggers the mechanism for shifting.....I would definitely like to see some henry. I'm off at college right now so my dad removed the shifter ****...Before it was removed you could spin it around like it was stripped....He couldn't get it off so he had to cut it through the ball to get it off....how do the ***** properly come off and on???

No, that's the kind that you need thr newer style assembly for. Unless you have to change thr assembly you can only use the ball shifter ****

 

What about a universal shifter ****??

 

There's a locating tab that breaks allowing it to spin like that. PM or email me your email address for sending pics. Pull the button out and remove circlip to remove the ****. Needs the clip to stay on. Don't think any universal ***** will work
