Issue with dashpad fitment

Ok so my dashpad is cracked and messed up so I bought another one from a guy on craigslist. If you look at it, it looks similar. Until I try to put it in and it didn't fit. The length from door to door is fine. The length from the windshield to end of dash is not. It is too short. When I line up the vents I am short about an inch to 2 inches. What car do you guys think this came off?

A firebird. The dash pad is shorter on the birds.

Re: Issue with dashpad fitment

I know this is a old thread, but I am having a problem with my dashpad not fitting in the opposite of what was said. It is like my dashpad is too long from door to door, when the door shuts it lifts the front of the dashpad about a half an inch. Interior was not together when i got the car so am trying to figure out how to put it together, am i missing something?

Re: Issue with dashpad fitment

FYI: A Firebird and a Camaro dash pad are the same length side-to-side. The Camaro Pad is wider from front-to-back ("windshield-to-Lip") than a Firebird Pad. The Dash Pad shown in the pics HAS the center 'vent notch' only found on a Camaro Pad......

Not sure what would cause this ?? Crashed Car ?? Door trim not installed properly ?? Improper installation of the dash housing ?? ( Maybe the dash brackets were bent ?? )

That was the first thing that came to my mind. But as you correctly point out, there are other possibilities.

Re: Issue with dashpad fitment

Thank you guys very much, I looked at my door trim and noticed that it need to be pushed down farther. After it clicked into place my door now closes fine without hitting my dashpad. Thank again.
