Overhead Console

Several years ago I bought an overhead console for my 92 Camaro with t-tops. Just recently, I finished gathering all the pieces like the flashlight, mounting bolts, etc.

The problem is: there is apparently a difference between the OH console for coupes and T-tops and I have no idea which one mine is. What is the difference?

Thanks.

Welcome to TGO, Yenipenny.

As you might imagine there aren't many questions that haven't been asked and answered on site, so you're likely to find a search useful. Try the following:

Re: Overhead Console

JamesC, thanks for the quick answer. First, sorry about not using the search function. I figured I might get hammered for that, but I'm not familiar with this site even though I first registered three years ago. I'll try to do better.

Fortunately, I got lucky and bought the correct OH console. Now to find time to install that sucker. I'm in the process of a full repaint. Maybe I can fit the install in at the same time.

Re: Overhead Console

Wal, not a "project" per se. We bought this car new. This is just maintenance and upgrade.

Thanks again.

Pictures of the one owner camaro? It's unique to witness one.

Re: Overhead Console

If I can navigate attaching images, I will. The pic on the left is before I started the repaint. The hood pic is halfway through the process of "burying" the stripes. I didn't want to re-use the Heritage decals so I taped the stripes by hand.

Another pic: This is, of course, the nose after three coats of base and four coats of clear. I'm painting in stages. Unfortunately, my stamina won't allow a complete repaint in one setting.

Forgot to mention, we bought this new in Feb. 1992. It's an RS with the Heritage package and mostly fully loaded. I have modified the nose to be like a Z28. It has been an outstanding car. My wife says it is hers.

Love the car. Looks almost just like my 1990 RS.

Re: Overhead Console

No offense, but the repaint will look so much better if you remove the grill insert, parking lights and side marker lights. They are very easy to remove.

No offense taken. I'm fully experienced in the removal/installation of said parts, but having considerable experience in painting, I take any shortcut I can without compromising the final product. 99% of people will never know I didn't remove them. The other 1% need something to nitpick.
