Re: anyone used a dash pad cover
They look great, but the speaker holes are molded into the cover, their not like original.
Make sure you order one for your year if they come like that,I bought one and got one for the 82-84 style, not sure if they come any different.

This is the 82-84 style.

You can find ones with speaker holes, theres different ones out there, the one you have posted has holes in the pic, it may work out.

Re: anyone used a dash pad cover
manta yours looks like the speaker holes are not there. I would like to find one that had the speaker holes in it already. either that or put a really nice set of speakers in before I put the dash cover down.

Re: anyone used a dash pad cover
I used on, but smoothed and painted it. Mine warped in the sun badly in the staging lanes at the dragstrip. I did NOT glue mine as it was a cover for the perfect factory dash I didn't want to mess up... long story short. The warped cover cracked my mint dash pad.
I think that they fit nice and tight, but I would totally recommend glueing it down to the dash as directions recommend

Re: anyone used a dash pad cover
They are ok for a quick fix on a tight budget. I just dabbed the silicone adhesive in a few spots four years ago to stop the rattling and it held up great.

We carry them on our website. Here's a link to them and also a video from one of the members on the board.

Re: anyone used a dash pad cover
A few years ago I bought one from Hawks Third Gen looks OK but obviously a cover to a third gen expert. I did not glue it down and it does not rattle nor move but I would love to buy a nice factory pad if I found one cheaper than the 450+ that Classic wants.

Re: anyone used a dash pad cover
I bought the one from 1A auto. I installed it with the dash pad out of the car. It is not cut very good and I had to shave some plastic off the cap, so the whole dash would seat properly. All the fighting I had to do with it even caused a little crack in the corner of the cap
. I fixed it from the backside with a little JB weld. There is a walk through of the cap install on this website I believe, but its not the cap from 1A. I was prepared to drill the holes for the screws in the defroster vent like the guy did in the sticky, but when I test fit the cap, it didn't go the whole way into the defroster vent (it stopped right above the screws). I guess they did that so you could access the screws later on if you wanted to remove the dash pad, cause the caps are made to install without removing the dash pad. That was a mistake, because you could see the old crappy dash down in the vent. So I had to strip all the old dash pad out of the vents. It is sheet metal underneath. Then I painted it silver and then installed the pad. It looks awesome now, just a silver ring around the bottom of the defroster vents, but it was alot of work. Then the little side vents didn't fit what so ever. I had to carefully trim the bottom of the vents to make them more shallow and use a couple dots of black silicone to glue the vents in the holes (you can't tell). Like I said it looks perfect now, but it wasn't as easy as I thought it was gonna be. DEFINITLY get a good quality cap. Try to find the one the guy used in the sticky thread, he says where he bought it. I paid like 150 for the one at 1A, and I had a tough time installing it. So I can only imagine how crappy a cheap ebay one would be. Sorry for the huge post...
Oh, and I did glue mine down like the instuctions say, and used painters tape to hold it firm to the pad while the glue cured (like the guys shows in the sticky)
