How hard would this swap be without switching doors? I have 2 power doors I'd trade to 2 crank window doors if in KY. Help please.

 

Come on let me get a reply, lol. I need someone who's done this before or anything about it to let me know.

 

Take the door panel off.

There are 4 rivets holding the window regulator on. There will be 4 other holes near them that you need to use.

Remove all of the window tracks after disconnecting the motor from the harness. You WILL need something to hold the window up inside the door.

Cut the rivets off with a grinder or some other tool and punch the remainders into the door. You will need to move the regulator forwards and back to get the rollers out of the window glass track. Then the regulator comes out the large hole where the connector was connected to the motor.

Reverse for the manual track but make sure the track is in the right holes. You can either go out and get 1/4" rivets and either buy or rent a rivet gun OR use bolts on the regulator to hold it in place on the door shell. You WILL need to cut the ends of the bolts off.

Clean and grease the window tracks before reinstalling. Clean the windows when done as I'm sure you will get some grease on them at some point.

 

Don't forget the wiring. To run it as the factory did (and keep it out of the way of everything)you need to pull the dash and center console loose because it runs along the firewall behind the top of the dash in a plastic sleeve. Hooks up very easy to the accessory block under drivers kick panel then a ground screwed to the body. Not very difficult, but it is the better part of a full day to do it all.
PUT BACK EVERY SCREW AND BOLT!!! or you will have squeaks and creeks

 

OOPS... my bad. I was going the other way, from manual to power. Which I would do and have done.

So in a nutshell, do the steps Joe Tag outlined. The only addition is you will need to drill a hole in the right spot for the crank mechanism.

don't mean to hijack the thread but I just scored a complete black and silver interior for $100 bucks, I have cranks in my car and want power do I need to get all the window tracks or will mine work just using the regulator and wiring. And to the op I would give my stuff if we weren't so far apart.

 

Yes, you can use your existing tracks. You just need to swap over to a power window motor/regulator set up and of course wire things up.
