wiper problems, help!

I recently bought a 92 RS V6 car. The wipers didn't work when I bought it. I ran a hot wire from the battery to the yellow wire going into the wiper motor and the wipers came on. When I turn the **** on the stalk nothing happens. How do I diagnose the problem? Is there a relay or switch? Is the **** on the stalk the switch or is there a switch under the dash somewhere? What all parts are there between the stalk **** and the wiper motor? It rains a lot here and if I can't get this fixed I'm gonna be up a creek. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys!

I think it's your tree, your motor works when you jump it.there's only a fuse, motor module and switch.

Re: wiper problems, help!

So if the fuse is good and the motor comes on when I Jump it then it must be the switch? The switch is the "stalk" that also turns on the blinkers?

wiper problems, help!-0221142108a.jpgcoming out of the switch or "stalk" there is 4 wires that go to a small connector mounted on the steering column. The wires are yellow, green, blue and red. Does anybody know what each of these wires do? Also out on the firewall going into the washer motor are 6 wires, pink, red, blue, grey, yellow and green. What do each of these wires do? I checked and the switch is over $120 and I don't have it to spend. I need to rig a simple way to get these going until I can come up with the cash to replace it. If I knew what each of these wires did I probably could rig up a simple toggle switch to just get the wipers to come on for now.

Re: wiper problems, help!

Did you pull that connector apart & check if the pins are good? The stalk is the switch, but there is a harness that runs down the column & unplugs under the dash. That looks like it, but its too fuzzy to tell.Id check that connection & work downwards.

Re: wiper problems, help!

I'm worried that it is the problem, it's over a hundred bucks for a new one and there are 0 3rd gens in the local junkyards right now. I don't really know how to check it. I have no idea how to check ohms and stuff like that. I can only check if it's getting power or not but that's it.

Re: wiper problems, help!

I have a simple continuity tester, is there a way to check them using that?
