Spare tire cover retainers
Hello everyone, my son and I are brand new to the F body world and I'm sure we will have lots of questions. Hopefully this one is easy. Does any one know where we can get the plastic retainer clips that the large plastic trim screws go into that hold the spare tire cover trim piece in place? Thanks, Darren

Here is the BEST deal out there for these "cargo panel nuts) !!!
Florida Auto fastener co. in Fl. (where I got mine!)
Cost less than $6 bucks !

You can also find them in the HELP section in most parts stores
(trim screw retainer nut)
The bandits at the Camaro/bird stores want $3 each plus shipping!

Buy the clips new, don't get used. They become brittle over time.

Your not kidding, they just crumble. I just bought this car about 2 months ago in Kitchener. Have you bought these clips locally? Or should I just get them off ebay?

My '83Z started out as a Father/Son project, so exciting!
One piece of advice-junkyards. PICK THEM APART. Between my Father and I we've probably tore into about 100 different camaros/firebirds over the past 8 years just getting whatever wasn't trashed. You never know what might break or what you might be missing. A lot of times the thirdgens that make it into the yards are trashed, but there's usually 1 good piece worth saving that will end up saving you some $$ down the road. And eventually you can flip whatever parts you don't use or don't want to keep for a little extra project funding (haha).
best of luck!!

Thank you both. Yes we purchased the car as a father son project. 100.000 original miles, never seen winter. interior and exterior is almost mint. No rust at all under the car. I couldnt turn it down. Small things to fix first like AC, one electric door lock, tach, engine idles a little ruff. Just did the ball joints, shocks, strutts and rear calipers. So nothing major at this point. Thanks again.
