Mysterious plug

Found this today stripping my parts car. It was in the passenger side kick panel area. I looked in my other camaro and it didn't have it,just a hole where it should have been.

Re: Mysterious plug

Looks like your parts car was at one time EFI of some sort. Most of the ECM wiring goes through the passenger side kick panel, while the rest of the wiring goes thru the firewall on the upper left of the engine compartment. Looks like a previous owner cut out the wiring he didn't want to keep, but left the stubs there to leave the hole sealed. What was the parts car originally?

Re: Mysterious plug

Was it originally a carb'ed or CFI car? And except for the antenna, nothing for the radio should exit the passenger compartment. Some of the A/C wiring might have gone through there, but mostly engine control wiring.

Re: Mysterious plug

Your LB9 should have had wiring there originally, the 84 without knowing what the engine was not sure. But at any rate, that should answer your question. It's just a pass through for wiring with some sealant in it to keep water out of the passenger compartment. You can take it apart and use it to run whatever wiring you like, then put it back together and use silicone to re-seal it around the wires, leave it as is, or put a plate over it and seal the hole entirely.

Re: Mysterious plug

Most likely use it to seal up the hole.
