Rear Hatch Pull down in pieces cheap fix?

I hear about letting the tracks down and then adding a few screws but what about welding as well? It hits a bounce and you can hear the hatch moving. Just want a cheap fix for it that adds better longevity than replacing for a new part in the same system thats bound to fail again.. Pics? Other Ideas? Thanks guys!

I repaired a unit that had been adjusted to close and then 2 tack welds added. Took me awhile to figure why it wouldn't slide with a new motor. The tacks were about as small
as a match head.

Re: Rear Hatch Pull down in pieces cheap fix?

Mine just rides a half inch too high and is missing the actual pull down motor so I was trtying to figure out how to get the tracks down then lookng into possibly drilling two hoes addings a few bolts to shore up the problem without the hassle of finding a new part that will eventually develop the same problem and be in the same situation down the road. Manual latch conversion would be nice just getting harder to find these babies with the parts I need around my area of norcal.

Also after I unpluged the solenoid I noticed my latch pops every time rather than every other push of the button so It must have been grounding out somewhere. Happy with it at last!

I just fixed mine with replacement parts from TDS and I make sure that the hatch doesn't get slammed shut. That was thirteen years ago and it still works like a champ.

its solid now with no play like it had before and the hatch finally sits flush on me while not making noise while hitting bumps. Its miraculous after welding the tracks.
