I searched but did not find any threads on inner door belt replacement (‘88 GTA) It appears there are plastic stakes that held the original but they are disintegrated. What methods are people using rivets? Screws? Glue? I am concerned the first two may interfere with the install of the door panel.
Those had plastic rivets from the factory, I noticed that when I had mine off recently you would have to probably glue them or plastic rivet as its pretty tight for clearance. Something like a zip tie will not work.
Yeah I am wondering if aluminum rivets would work. I am a bit concerned about them protruding where the door panel clips over the top causing them not to seat where they need to be. I may just have to try some things. One of mine had a heavy staple in it which would work but I don't have that at my disposal.
I see now.
I used 1/4" self-tapping screws and then cut the tips of them off with a Dremel. Next time, I'll use rivets or try using E6000 glue. Stuff works wonders.
