I'd like a nice set of mats for my GTA. Gray interior. Can be slightly darker than factory threads, and on my last GTA, had a set of dark gray with a red bird. The bird was dyed, so the threads didn't wear out like an embroidered mat.

Who's got the best out there?

 

IMO the best fit and factory look are the ACC cutpile mats, great price on Rockauto too. ACC can even send you color swaths to match up but I went with the dove gray and it’s close, a little darker than the original carpet but still looks good.

Those mats can also be had with various logos or third gen bird emblem etc. or if you want more plush carpet go with the Essex style.

The only thing they lack is the rubber GM emblems on the front mats but those can be found at the junkyard on many cars or eBay.

I agree with above, I got ACC a few years ago and they really are nice.

 

Another vote for ACC, had mine for 5 years now, still look pretty much new (which is saying something since they're Red and the car is kept outside).

 

Bruce is also working on floormats with the correct early style backing and having the option with/ without the GM logo, of course with the logo will cost more

our cars came with the cut pile mats,mine did anyway The backs are different from the originals that's all I see

I used E6000 fabric glue, it worked great an has held up so far. I even used small weights overnight IIRC to hold the emblems in place.

The bottom of the mats is the rubber nubs and holds the mats in place better than the factory design IMO.

Bruce is Bruce Hawkins from Hawks motorsports. As far as I know he doesn’t sell the OE reproductions yet, getting the licensing for the GM logo seems to be a problem.

Your best bet is the ACC cutpile mats from Rockauto, great price and are cut just like factory. Most reproduction mats for these cars aren’t even close to factory fit or look. Just add your old GM rubber squares or get a set from eBay/junkyard and glue them with fabric glue and your all set.

 

I bought a later set from GM back in the day and they have the rubber nubs on the bottom. IIRC, it was around 2000-2001

Yes, the ACC mats have the best fit of any aftermarket’s, they are just like factory.

 

 

Yep, put mine in for the TA Nats this year, they fit perfect. I admit I bought the set about 3 years ago and just pulled them out of the plastic this summer for the first time, they are very nice!

 

The ACC mats used my factory original mats as a template for the exact shape, binding and passenger floor contour. They asked me about the backing and I requested the rubber nibs as a better way to keep them in place. The thought was that nobody sees the underside of the floor mats, so visually they were as close to factory as possible, but remained in place and didn't slide under foot. The Dove Gray option is as close to the factory gray interior as you will find.

Has anyone bought the embroidered 3rd Gen bird on the ACC mats, and who is the best source for mats? How was the embroidery on the mat? A picture would be great if someone has 1.
