Glove Box switch

Glove Box switch

Dumb question maybe, but what does the switch at the back of the console armrest door do? Mine is disconnected currently, didnt even notice it had a wiring harness until i took the console out.

It's supposed to turn on the little light that used to shine through that round opening when you open the lid........

Ah cool. I figured it was for some kind of light, but didnt know there was a light there. Thought maybe the dome light.

Looks like your missing that part,I have the part if that's a Firebird

My 93 Cadillac uses a similar switch/lite unit in the glovebox.

Oh i see, i was thinking the bulb stuck through the hole, it just shines through the hole. Interesting....

That hole gets covered with a white lens

OK i think i got everything i need, just one more thing.
What's the number on that bulb? I cant find it anywhere, in the service manual either. I tried a 194, didnt work.

These are the replacement bulbs for the console switch,I had these in my parts cabinet

Is the Camaro switch/light socket in the rear of the center console? my 91 Firebird has this in front of the console lid near the window switches.

My 83 Firebird has it at the back of the glove box.

Separately, I've got power at the switch, and the switch works correctly, but no matter what bulb I put in there, no light. Not sure what's going on there.
