motor mounts

ok so i looked at hawks engine mounts with tranny mounts for the ls1 are those engine mounts all i need? to put the engine in my car? also providing i got the ls1 in my car and gave it power. could i drive the car for a while until i got all the stuff for the speedo and tach and reprogrammed ecu? i can get a ls1 and t56 for like 2000 bucks and i want to do the swap. its quit confusing there should be a book on this crap that tells you step by step and i know there are threads but there not that detailed.

If you are going to go as far as hooking the wiring up for the power, you might as well finish the wiring and have all the gauges working, biggest thing, it will keep you out of trouble if the car overheats, tells you if the alternator is working etc etc. It wouldn't take much longer after getting the car running to finish that off. Unless you get a a/c delete pully, you will have to modify the crossmember to clear the compressor and then use the mounts that hawks has.

He can run the car with out the AC compressor on. The compressor runs on a differnt belt. For some reason with my car when i unplugged the AC compressor the car died out when i turned the lights on. But I think thats just a grounding problem I have, not a universal one.

But if your looking to throw the motor in hook up a few wires and go, it doesnt work like that. You will usually run into at least a few problems. I would at least find a way to hook up the water temp guage if anything. Good luck.

Yea its possible to get a k-member from the junkyard and notch it out side and then swap it. But you dont have to have the compressor in there like I said before. All those motor mount kits from Hawks and Fbody motorsports and other places are all pretty much the same. Actually I have a set of motor mounts from Hawks if you want them. Brand new never opened. Their about 85 bucks new...Ill let them go for $70 shipped.

Im pretty sure they are spohn, but I dont think there any more. Maybe they are. Most of the spohn stuff that other places sell seem to sell for the same price as Spohn sells it for.
