Carb'd LS1 ....Any1 done it?

Alrighty, i posted this because i want to know if anyone has run this kit on their LS1 swap?

I am talking about the Edelebrock/MSD kit...

Does any one know anyone that knows anyone that has worked with this kit or can refer me anywhere that has some good info on it?

If so, it would be much appricated!

oh man!
thats me!

i love the carbed setup. it was in my budget and already had the fuel system ready from my SBC.

i would recommend the MSD unit over the edelbrock. there are no adjustments to the edelbrock, not even a revlimiter.

i run the GM single plane intake, as i didnt feel the dual plane edelbrock would get the job done.
i gotta buddy that just the new victor jr kit, and it looks to be similar to the GM intake, but with a larger plenum.

ive since went a lil faster since the additon of headers and a lil carb tuning.

7.24 at 96.96mph cam only.

its fun, and a great swap. i can make changes all day long and not have to worrry about getting "retuned"
good luck!

Hmm i thought the edlebrock and MSD kit were the same?... I thought they teamed up on this?...How much did the gmpp intake cost?....

Howd you go about your fuel system? ..

Can ya give me some general tips on your installation?

Anything helps!!

Thanks

its made by SMD for edelbrock, MSD now has one under their own name that is tuned via PC.
the gm intake was right at 300 bucks, as is the new VICTOR JR.
i already had my fuel system.
-6 line, aeromotive rg, etc. any std carberated system in place will work, given it can support your HP level.
the only tip i can say on installation is watch what motor mounts you buy.
i bought a cheap kit off ebay and they are a lil off.ended up welding them to my stock SBC solid mount and trimmed them up and painted them.
the spohn mounts i think would be a nice choice.
i dont run a/c, but there are problems with the compressor and such.
either buy a bracket or get a tubular k member. id take the k member.
its pretty straitforward. no real issues.

for an adjustable system, the MSD box would be your choice.
start retard
timing controls
2 timing retards
rev limiter
and you can datalog with a laptop just like efi, just not as complex.

the edelbrock box you plug up and thats it.
the timiing pills included with the kit do nothing, IMO.
ive dynoed and ran at the track with them all. no difference.

scoggin dickey is the cheapest place for the GM intake, and jegs has the best deal on the edlebrock kit.

the msd part # for the box is #6010 if that helps.

check into the victor jr. there is a version now machined for fuel rails and i think it even comes with them for 400 or so for everything.
just the intake is 289.

the MSD box comes with a harness, as far as i can tell. they also make an extension harness if you want to tuck it away somewhere.
i cant say for sure, i still run the edelbrock box.
ill switch one day, i like the extra features of the MSD.
good luck.

Forgive my ignorance, but wouldn't running a carb on an LSx severly limit performance? Everything I've ever read says that the LSx intakes are designed rediculously well('specially the LS6 intake), and are almost impossible to beat performance wise. Not saying you shouldn't do it, just wondering how well it works compaired to the factory intake/EFI.

LS2 vs. LS1

No big changes between the engines. One will easily swap for the other. However the knock, crank, and cam sensors are in different positions. GEN III vs. GEN IV LSx engines. All else is interchangable.
