when is the stock airbox a restriction
I have the dual snorkel airbox on my car. I have removed the splash shields and cut the bottom of the boxes out. I have also opened up and smoothed out the entry where it meets the maf. I also have duct work down behind the fog lights to get cold air.
This setup worked fine with my old hotcam set up and the car trapped a best of 114mph. I upgraded to an LE2 last summer. Now the car is moving alot more air. I havent dynoed it yet, but If I can get all my ducks in a row it should make 400 plus rwhp. Is it time for some kind of custom cold air set up?
Thanks for your thoughts.

btw long tubes and a new exhaust are also in my immediate future.

this was done to the camaro split intake on vincentz28's car. He's putting 373 hp to the ground and I was at the dyno when he tested this and saw a 9 hp gain.

I would say that the stock airbox no matter how much is cut out at the bottom would be restrictive on the Camaro's. You're taking a whole bunch of air, shoving it into a little flat space (which will heat the air up a bit) and trying to ram it down 58mm TB. I say put a CAI on it.

I really like what INTIMIDATOR Z did to his car for a cold air intake.

Thanks for the replys.
What I have now isn't much different than the first post. I agree that I need more though. Thanks for confirming my thoughts.
Hey Tyler
