lt4 build
i know this is the 3rd gen site but i have a 95 firebird with an lt1 and im gonna be parking it this winter and i wanna rebuild the motor, ive seen the lt4 kit advertised to make 430 horse.. anyone ever used this kit on a basicall stock lt1? does it really make 430 horse?> i have headers and exhaust thats about it and a cold air kit.. i wanne get the rebuild kit from summit with forged pistons or possibly a complete rotating assy. like the 383 kit from eagle.. would just any 1 piece rear main kit work for my lt1? and also maybe somewhere down the road after the 383 and lt4 kits maybe a super charger from vortech.. could my stock rods and crank take all that? with forged pistions of corse... and also is there a better package than the lt4 kit for basically the same price? like maaybe a set of afr heads and the edelbrock manifold and a different cam? im looking for all the info on this motor i can get and how to get the most power out of it... thanks guys!

Re: lt4 build
It will make 430hp if its tuned right. Between my WS6 and my Dad's Comp TA, they were equal except I had stock intake and heads and he had the LT4 intake and heads. Best I did was 12.4 and the best he did was 12.2. His car also weighed 100 lbs less than mine. We dynoed the same day and I put down ~330rwhp to his ~370rwhp.
I know everybody says there are better packages out there, and they are right. But for a mild compo that makes power, it works.
And mine passed the IM240 treadmill test when it was emission tested

Re: lt4 build
370 at the wheels comes out to 425hp with a 15% drivetrain loss. 436hp with 18% loss. Right where its supposed to be.
Tuned with LT1 Edit or somebody that knows how to tune the LT1.

Re: lt4 build
You should look into Lloyd Elliot heads. Most guys with the LE1 heads and LE2 cam are in the 400RWHP range.
