5.3 and trans question

Will an F body T56 bolt a 99 5.3 I searched LS1tech and here and could really find an answer. I would like to find out before buying an engine.

I don't think it will. The flange on the crankshaft sticks out further on that year. I think till 01-02?? Its like a 1/4in.I dunno but it is deeper. Your flywheel will be back further. If you install a later model crank or ls1 crank it will. Bellhousing bolt pattern is the same.

I think I will continue to look around for an LS1 after the first of the year then.

It had a wider rear main seal surface pad until '02, IIRC the flywheel was positioned the same? I beleive it came further into the motor.

I know my '03 LM7 had the smaller width rear main seal surfact.

old thread but basically 03 and up 5.3's will bolt to a 98-02 F-Body T56 correct?

the crank issue is not with the 5.3s, just the 6.0's. i've got a 99-00 5.3 bolted to a 4l60e that was in a 98 TA

Ok, but what about the T56... im using a T56 from a 98-02 F-body with a 5.3 and i have the option of 02 or 03 year 5.3 engine....

Yes your t-56 will bolt up to a 99+ 5.3. Like Dan said, the early 6.0's were the one's that had the different cranks.
