Well good news...I found my roller. Needs a ton of work body, but the doesn't scare or detour me. I was wondering if I bought a complete z with a blown motor(since I'm going to build it) if it would be cheaper than piecing it all together. Also how hard is it to make a harness or can I just use the stock one from the other car? Is there any year to stay away from or a year that has benifets? I'm shooting for huge #s this time around.

Are you asking if it would be cheaper to build a blown motor in one car than it would be to build a motor and do a bunch of body work on a different car then the answer is yes. If the wrecked car has a built motor then the answer would be maybe. And if the huge number your shooting for is the amount of money you can put into a car to make it fast then you should be real happy.

The car gonna roll w/ the 305 for awhile. I'm gonna get my ducks in a row and build my motor and tranny. I'll just have to wait for the right donor car.

No difference in the heads from the '97-'98 than the '99+ except that the 99+ have centerbolt valve covers and the '97-'98 have perimeter bolt.

Re: Starting with the search

Here's a large thread that goes through the differences in the LS1 engines

http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27515

2. Cylinder heads and valve covers redesigned to have center bolts instead of perimeter bolts. Other than that, the heads were the same.
