put motor mounts in wrong place..
put motor mounts in wrong place..
i put the spohn motor mount adapters where they go from the factory, well i didnt, a friend did, then he asked me to weld them in place... only then did i realize they are in the wrong place... ****! anyone have pics of where they really go?

Not if you can weld and have some free time. I mean...if tubular is the way you want to go, then by all means. But if you want to use your stocker, be prepared to do alittle cuttin and welding. Especially to use the 4th gen a/c compressor.
I just wish I would have cut the notch the first go around.

Its not exactly a "hard" procedure. Just can be a bit hairy if you arent safe about it. You'll need to remove the springs.
You can get a spring compressor and try to get that to work, but Ive never found one that works well on these cars.
The method I use, can be dangerous if you dont take proper precautions and use your head. Basically, you support the a-arm with a jack so that the spring is compressed alittle. Then you remove the brake caliper and hose and hang it off to the side out of the way. Pop out the tie rod end, and remove the sway bar end links. Take off the strut retaining nut. Make sure you are supporting the a-arm at this point! Using a chain or a ratchet strap type strap, wrap around a coil of the spring and tie it to the back of the a-arm. Basic Ide is, if for some reason the spring decides to pop out, it wont get very far. Now...with the spring secured, slowly let the jack down. When the a-arm gets tilted down pretty far, the spring will just barely be hanging on the lip in the pocket. At this point, you can either give the a-arm a kick down, or using a long pry bar, pop the bottom of the spring over the lip. It might pop alittle, but there isnt much energy left at this point. Unstrap it, and remove the spring.
Install is the reversal of that.

Could be selective or just plain poor memory, but I don't recall anyone notching for the pan before I set out to do it.

I remember one or two guys doing some notching....but I dont remember many pictures of it floating around. Just mentioned here and there.
I think most people have poor clearance. Even if its not touching, its still too close. 1/16" isnt acceptable to me. haha. Not with the torque these motors throw around.
Your thread was a kick in the butt to me to get my notch done haha. Speaking of your thread...I asked that guy for a picture of his contraption, and totally forgot to go back and look. Didnt realize he took pics for us.
