passkey

i have bene searching, and i bet its here somewhere but i cant find it. if i leave the original passkey stuff alone, and i have the original key, but i have removed the original ecm and entire engine harness, will my lsx swap start ok using the connections in the bulkhead connector wired to the lsx harness? does the thirdgen ecm kill anything so that it won't work if the original ecm is gone? i think my understanding is that the ecm would kill the injectors, but since they're gone, the lsx ecm should let the injectors work as long as the vats is tuned out. the starter relay part of passkey should still work fine with the original key though, shouldn't it?

I did the exact thing your talking about. run the big purple wire out of the driver side fireawll bulkhead C100 to the LSx starter and ur good. mine works great. i havent hooked anything up to the interior C207? plugs yet and mine runs/drive great.....except i tuned vats out of my ls1 ecm.

What you want to do should work just fine.

Re: passkey

Running the purple wire directly to the LSx starter should be fine. The only thing I personally will be concerned about will be the LSx PCM ability to shut things off if anything goes wrong. (low fuel or fuel pump failiure).

or the safety stuff like PNP and brake switches.

Re: passkey

I just did what you guys are talking about last weekwend, but my vats relay had 2 large yellows, 1 large green/white stripe, and a small green. Since I didn't know which yellow wire to use, I used a test light to see which yellow one came on in Ignition/run and connected it to the large green/white stripe wire, my clutch switch still works too. Just thought I would let you know in case you dont see a purple wire coming off the relay.

Re: passkey

I had the same confusion. Just FYI...the yellow is from the ign switch to the relay then yellow again from there to the fuse box and then from there it changes to PPL at the c100 thru the firewall to the starter

Re: passkey

Just a question, if the VATS hasn't been tuned out yet, what will it do? I've got everything wired up and the car will start and run for about 5 seconds, then shuts off. It doesn't matter if I let it idle or rev the crap out of it. After that 5 seconds, it seems like someone shut off the key (obviously it's not me). I'm going to try and find out if the spark or fuel is being cut, to see if that lines up with the anti-theft method of operation. If anyone has insight, please let me know, thanks.

If you dont have it tuned out of the LS1 computer or have a bypass box, It will run for a few seconds and shut down. Did you not have the vats tuned out?

Re: passkey

It looks like I'm about to run into the same issues. Is it not possable to get the thirdgen VATS module to work with the LS1 PCM? I kind of wanted everything to work, including VATS. If not, where do you get it programed out of the PCM, and how much does something like that cost?

Hi, google PCMforless, email them.Tell them what you need. The basic code/security delete will not cost much at all. I'm sure Alvin or Kelly can help you out. Hope this helps, Dean.
