Swapping out my DBW throttle body to a cable operated one?
Hi there again.
I´m having alot of concerns regarding what to do with my drive by wire LS2 throttle body. When I bought the engine and transmission and pedals (2006 GTO) from Cleveland pick a part, I didnt get the TACS module or the cables/connectors for It from them.
I got hte GTO accelerator pedal, but it seems like the TACS module is somehow built in to the GTO chassi harness, which really sux for me then...
Now it seems really hard/impossible to find a tacs module with the right connectors to get my DBW throttle body hooked up to function in my -89 Iroc LS2 swap.
I´ve been thinking about changing it out to a 90 or 92 mm cable operated one, but what will the computer say?
What to do with the sensors etc?
Is there one that would be perfect/easy to use in my swap that you know of?
Is there someone that can offer any good ideas out there/Robert from Sweden www.nordiccamaros.se

pantera efi ( google them ) converts stock LS2 DBW tb's into cable driven ones retaining all your sensors etc. Lance the owner is pretty interesting guy...
Hope this helps

I have an LS2 and I used a 92mm Nick Williams cable throttle body, but to do it I used an LS1 computer. I kept the LS2 intake which obviously doesn't have a throttle cable bracket so I fabricated one out of steel that bolts onto the intake to hold the cable. I had to get a throttle position sensor and idle air control solenoid to hook up to the cable throttle body and speartech did up my wiring harness to work with the LS2. Assuming the Pantera conversion is a simple bolt-on and works with the stock computer, that would definitely be the way to go (I wish I'd known about it!)

I don't believe there is a TAC module for the 2006 GTO. Read the following:

As a matter of fact there is other decent information at this site LS2 swappers can use.

Another good reason for us daily drivers to stay with DBW: Digital Cruise Control.

Re: Swapping out my DBW throttle body to a cable operated one?
Thanx alot for all the tips and inputs.
MWfrels links to some good sites that both helps out alot and confuses me....
It´s really strange about this whole TACS module thing, In some swaps, like one done in a 68 camaro in Chevy high performance magazine they are putting in a TACS module somewhere under the dash, that connects in between the accelerator pedal and the throttle boy. (I´ve got the mag and has seen the pics) But now in some of the links that MWfrels posted they say that the 2005/06 GTO does NOT have a TACS module, and it´s supposedly built in to the Throttle body.....this is confusing to me.
Is there anybody that know about this for sure?
It might be so that the Corvette LS2 engines needs a separate TACS module and that the GTO LS2 does not, I just don´t know. And it´s kind of important for my swap...

From that forum many on this forum like to mention in different ways:
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/conver...ac-module.html
There are one of two other discussions over there that have a lot of garble not relevant to this problem in them that do seem to try to make a point. They mention that it is important to match the TB, accelerator sender(pedal), PCM, and flash together as they were from the factory. Take this last info with grain of salt but it sounds like good practice for us newbies.

The TAC system works via the PCM. See explanation of how at all works and works together in the following, with circuit diagram:
