Hi Everyone,

Simple question.. Are there any other torque-to-yield bolts on the LSX factory engine besides the cylinder head bolts? ie main bolts, etc?

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the responses, I wasn't sure about the main bolts. I suppose I will have to order a new set.

Go ARP and dont look back, dealing with a BRAND new TTY bolt breaking off in the block of a 6.0 project when we were bolting the heads down. I re use the stock balancer bolts.

Main bolts are torque to angle, not torque to yield. They can be reused.

However, they are said to only be able to be torqued 3-4 times before they can't be reused, so my plan is to use the original ones for pre-assembly and do final assembly with a new stock set. Unlike the head bolts, I really don't ever see myself yanking these back off again, so I don't see the need to spend the extra on the ARPs. For the head bolts though, the ARPs are the way to go unless you're delusional enough to think your heads will never come back off.

See.. this is why I asked this question on TGO rather than a LSx specific site. I get straight answers. Thanks everyone!

If you arent going well over 7000, the stockers hold up for everyone i know. My 6.0 sees 7100 all the time, tons of abuse, but they are cheap insurance if you just want the piece of mine.

I would not gamble with the stock bolts. I've seen my share of genIII / genIV conn rods exit the side of the block on dyno due to rod bolt fatigue... I would go with ARP's and be sure that there is no "cap shift" of the cracked rods when tightening down.
