Oil pressure gauge?
So Im in the mist of prepping my harness and I pretty much have everything figured out but what I havent seen posted on here is what you guys have done for the oild pressure gauge.I want to retain my factory oil pressure gauge.Do I need a seperate sender or reuse the stock sender and tap into an oil port somewhere or can I simply wire the gauge somewhere on the ls1 harness.
I dont like having non functional gauges on my dash lol..call me crazy but its a petpeeve when I drive and see a dead guage.
Hopefully Pocket can answer this for me

Re: Oil pressure gauge?
Can you just use a T-fitting on the LS1? Then you could use the LS1-specific sensor for its PCM, and the 3rdgen sensor for your guage.

Re: Oil pressure gauge?
I would assume so..but Id like to hear what others have done or if thats the only way to make it work.
Re: Oil pressure gauge?
Use the stock LS1 sender behind the intake. 87 should have the old style connector in the harness which doesnt work. Just cut the old connector off and solder the one from the LS1 harness

Re: Oil pressure gauge?
Pocket the problem with that is my car was originally a 305carb..then converted to a 350tpi and my oil pressure guage is a single wire that had a female blade terminal on it.Will it still work..and wouldnt it cause the ecm to read incorrectly if I splice into the wire on the ls1 harness?
Re: Oil pressure gauge?
so the ls1 sender will work with the factory gauge or is there something else that needs to be done.

Cut the blade off the wire. Locate the oil connector in the LS1 harness (one wire). Cut it off and solder it onto the 3rd gen wire that used to have the blade
The LS1 sender will drive the 3rd gen gauge no problem
The LS1 sender will drive the 3rd gen gauge no problem
