my name is alex and im 19. i will be swappin in a 5.3 truck motor into my 91 camaro, with the car intake, and a 4l60e with a harness from speartech.com.

im going to be keeping all my swap post in the thread so i dnt have 1,000 random post all over the board.

plans for the car, great daily driver, fuel injected, i will be swapin the ls1 hot cam into the motor with the ls6 springs. im undesided on ac at the moment, but i will be getting the ac wires in my custom harness. ill be running the quick performance brackets for alt, ps, and ac(if i deside to go ahead and do ac)

if you want to see my car search hugger 91, im pretty sure its the only one thats hugger orange with white stripes and a 4 inch cowl hood.


so far i have:
an ls1 oil pan and pick up
stock 2000 z28 manifolds witht he cats and everything (i wont be running cats)
stock ls1 clam shell mounts( i know i need the sphon adapters)


i will be buying the 5.3 shortly, is there any preference on year? i will also be getting a 4l60e, should i get one out of a fbody or will a truck trans work? would i have to switch the tail shaft to use a the torque arm?

 

only thing i can answer for sure right now is that either trans will work.

and i dont believe there is any specific year you want/want to stay away from

 

i was told you couldn't make the third gen torque arm fit a 4l60e, but i jus found out that you CAN make the third gen torque arm fit on a 4l60e you jus need to weld on some tabs for the bolts.

 

I dont think i've seen any swaps with the qwik bracket. Good luck on the build!

Edit: Did you get the windage tray along with the pick-up tube and oil pan? If not, I think you should be able to modify the one that comes on the truck engine.

 

if you still need the 4l60e, grab an fbody unit and get the torque arm mount on the tail; you can always use the 4th gen torque arm if your current one will not work. good luck with your swap!

 

Thanks for the help u guys, I didn't get the windage tray, but I will get one. I got those manifolds cats o2's, oil pan, pick up and motor mounts for 80 bucks lol

 

if you've still got the truck windage, its can be modded to fit with the fbody pan like iroc said. the front of it just needs to be trimmed back a bit; you should be able to find some photos of both to get an idea of what needs to go.

 

I'm using my 3rd gen torque arm with a 4th gen torque arm mount. I have a 4L60e from a 2000 fbody.

 

I'm putting a 5.3 into mine also, do you know if a 305 alternator and power steering will work on it? I can't find information anywhere if I can or not.

 

none of your accessories carry over. need 4th gen fbody ones or modify the truck stuff (not an easy task).

 

Get an L33. It's an all aluminum 5.3 and has the better rods.
