Hedman Hustler Hedders...

Hi everyone,

I dont know if anyone else knows about this, but I contacted Hedman about swap hedders...and they have them!!! Long tube 1 3/4" primary x 3" collector, as well as mids, and crossmembers.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
HERE IS THE EMAIL I RECEIVED:

Hello, Steve. Thanks for contacting us about your Gen 3 F-body/LS project.
Below is a link to our Hedman Husler Muscle Rods products for your swap. We
offer several different header tube length and diameter combination, as well
as, motor mount and tranny cross members that have been developed together,
on the same car...at the same time. We do not currently sell them directly
off our website, but if you locate what you want to use and call our Georgia
header plant, they can help you out.
I hope this link has what you are looking for. Please email me again at this
email address, if you have further non-technical related questions.

Happy and safe driving,

Unfortunatly when I called them, they do not sell them direct. You have to go thru Jegs or Summit. I called Jegs and gave them the part number hoping for a better price then Hawks...I was pretty disappointed. They are $849.99 + shipping which for me was $13.99. If it was reasonable...even $500-sh I was willing to put it on the ole plastic card, but cant justify it for that price right now.

Anyway thought I'd let you all know in case you didnt know already.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

Well, I just got my response from Pacesetter. They said they have no plans to make anything for this application. Oh well...worth a try.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

From what I could tell from looking at the details for the uncoated part numbers they are manufactured from mild steel not stainless. At $849.99??? Maybe I missed something...

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

no pictures, makes me wonder....this is the same company that makes them for BRP.

probably has the same flat collector design.

the price is rediculous, that's for sure!

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

I'd never pay that much for mild steel headers, especially if they turn out to be that ugly flat collector design.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

I agree...its crazy. Hawks headers are $10 cheaper. I'm thinking of emailing him again and asking if that sounds like a correct price for steel. I'll also ask again if there is a way to buy direct, and possibly for a pic also. I dont like the flat design either. I wonder if it would be less work/cost effective to take headers of that design and modify them from a flat collector to a regular round one?

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

Price will go down as volume increases. That's always the case. Notice the choices:

1-3/4 inch
1-3/4 stepped to 1-7/8 inch
1-7/8 inch
1-7/8 stepped to 2 inch
2 inch

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

check out BRP's website...they offer the same sizes....pretty sure its the same ones. i would rather have a set of mild steel coated headers for cheaper, like $6-700 for 1.75" primaries with a 3" collector, than a set of stainless...just my preference though.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

Only one way to find out. Somebody call Hedman.

I have a suspicion these are new headers design. Hedman makes the BRP models but they are not sold under Hedman brand name. In another thread, somebody spoke to BRP recently and was told they are coming out with a new version with conventional collectors. I'll bet these Hedman headers are one and the same. New design. Normal.

Also notice they offer long tubes and mids. You can guarantee the mids will be cheaper

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

I emailed Hedman to ask are these indeed the same flat collector headers sold at BRP, and if not are they indeed flat collector as listed. I also questioned the price as the same design is avail from BRP at almost $200 cheaper, and stainless from hawks are $10 cheaper.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

nothing is set in stone on BRP's "new" design, mw66nova will be working with them to redesign something is where it was left.

i did talk to jeff from BRP and he said nothing would happen until after the SEMA show in november.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

He emailed me back, and said that BRP sells their headers. He also said he is investigating that giant price difference, and will let me know what he finds.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

I can get the uncoated mids for $350, or longtubes for $550 plus shipping through my supplier. Pricing doesn't sound too bad if they fit good.

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

i would still like to see pictures to verify if the longtubes do have the flat collector...i'm ready to pull the trigger on some.....not sure i want to settle for mid-length.

....found this while poking around tonight:

http://stores.bulldawgmusclecars.com...x-1/Detail.bok

20.00 cheaper than BRP, for BRP's stuff....

Re: Hedman Hustler Hedders...

just got off the phone with jeff again. husler will not be reworking the collector design and jeff said the long tubes don't have very much wiggle room when using their mounts. so he wasn't sure if they would fit with anything but their kit. good info to know. i did some price checking and jegs has the items in their system. the mids aren't a bad price at $360. average pipe length is 18-22" according to jeff. not sure if i'm ready to give up 10-15ft lbs of torque for the savings......
