LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
I got bored with the power in my 1989 Formula 350.

370rwhp just seems slow now.
Figured its time for an LS1 swap. Purchased the following:

2002 LS1 complete, 4L60e, camaro seats, etc.
Sold the seats, transmission, ecm and wiring, motor mount stands, cam and springs (aftermarket comp cam), water pump etc and recooped about $2100 so I'm into this thing pretty cheap.
This is whats left

On order, is a set of 799 heads (same casting as LS6 heads) that I am going to send to Advance Inductions for their CNC job. Also purchased my single biggest mod evarrrr and got a Magnuson TVS2300 on the way. Its the same blower they use on the new ZL1 Camaro and ZR1 vette.

I'll order a cam from Alvin at PCM of NC (Formerly PCMForLess) and he's thinking I'll make about 650hp. That should suffice
I will update this post as I acquire parts/work on the car. I'm excited!

Can't wait to see this build, I've always thought doing a maggie on top of an ls1 would be a blast, but im too attached to my stock hood. Keep us updated!

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
Good luck. I was tempted on doing a ZL1/LSA white formula also. Still up in the air on what to do with that engine.
Btw ZL1 blower=TVS 1900, ZR1=TVS 2300,
Both completely different than a Maggie 2300.

I think SLP makes the TVS' right? I'm interested to see what kind of numbers the magnacharger puts down. I've heard of people getting 1000HP out of them, but haven't ever seen the results.

All TVS blowers are a patented design, and manufactured by Eaton. I believe Magnacharger, Rousch and Edelbrock are distributors of these units and they incorporate intake manifolds and intercoolers for specific engines.

Re: LS1 Swap Crew: This is my Supercharged LS1 swap thread
If you're sending your 799 heads to get CNC, why not go with 317 heads. They're cheaper and will also lower your compression. Allowing you to turn up the boost a bit more.
Will you be going with forged pistons?

Looks like a fun swap. Just a quick question, why sell the ECM and wiring harness? What are going to use instead?

Don't need huge cubes to get that number. Just the right combo.

Can't you build an aluminum block to handle 700rwhp? One of the whole points of going LSX is the aluminum block no? :/

no not really lol.
I'm sure you could make that power, I'm just not doing a ***** out build right now. 550hp on a stock block is pretty safe, and I'm sure I'll be happy with +200hp for awhile. I'll start another engine in a few years when the bank account recovers

Man, I hate to tell you this, but.... You are absolutely going to love the Maggie.
I hit 507 RWHP with a 1900 on a stock LS1 with stock heads, so a 2300 on better flowing heads should easily hit 550. I gained 10HP opening the cut-out on 1-3/4" SSW, so the 1-7/8" should be an awesome choice.
Have fun.

Nice choice....those blowers are awesome. I just have a little mp112 but it will still put the car sideways at 60mph. The torque these blowers make is outstanding. It's the perfect choice for a street car.

First gear is real short. It was a hand full when I first started driving the car but now that I'm used to it, they are fine. Eventually I will step down to a 3.50 gear though.

That's going to be a great combo. I'm holding on to my 317 heads, because if I ever get bored with the N/A LS3-headed motor, those 317s with a maggie would make a big improvement.

What's wrong with the factory fan? I run the maggie HE, A/C and a big Griffin on the stock single fan and have never had a heating issue.
