4l60e questions.
Ok guys before i start this build i just need to see the options here. I know i need a new tailshaft from a 4th gen to make my torque arm work. Is that ls1 cars only or the v6 models will work too? Having a hard time trying to find one just from the ls1 cars. If i keep the truck stuff the stock driveshaft will still work right? Also what are the options for mounting the torque arm other than trans.
Thanks i just want to get rid of the bugs before i jump in. Hopefully ill have my stuff here to start the process for my new LSX sawp

There are several options for mounting the TA to something other than the trans - and doing so is highly recommended.
- Swap crossmember that includes TA mount
- Swap crossmember & TA kit
- TA kit that includes a crossmember to mount the TA (usually requires subframe connectors to mount the crossmember to it)
- Jegster TA that uses a saddle in the driveshaft tunnel.
The one I liked best from a traction standpoint was the BMR TA with dedicated crossmember (which I had in the LS1/T56 swap car, which I sold). The LS1/4L60E car I still have uses the BMR to stock tranny mount - works fine for this level, but if I up the performance level (which may include a TH400 swap), I'll go back to the dedicated crossmember type.

Re: 4l60e questions.
So basically the track pack. Trying to save a few bucks but maybe I'll get this. Thank you
Re: 4l60e questions.
First off you need a 2wd trans. 4wd versions have a shorter output shaft which requires a complete teardown to swap. Not worth it
After that, swapping the tail housing is cake. V6 units bolt onto the v8 units and reverse. Keep in mind the old vs new cases. Older 1pc case trans use a 4 bolt housing, newer 2pc cases with the removable BH use a 6 bolt housing
Simplest solution is to use a thick L bracket under the trans mount with the TA bracket bolted/welded to it instead of swapping tail housings

Thanks pocket. I knew about the 4wd and the 4 bolt. Just couldn't find anything about the V6 versions. That L bracket might be an even better way to go. Is there any pics to go by on here?

Re: 4l60e questions.
Personally if it is in the budget I would look into a BMR or UMI Track Pack setup. I built my own tq arm then used a BMR crossbar with the clearance/hump for my 3.5" exhaust. If the car is lowered or you plan on lowering it then go with a new trans cross member setup with the TQ arm.
My last Iroc-z wasnt lowered so I didnt really have many issues with the track pack, my current car is lowered on weight jacks around 2-2.5" all around and it scrapes on everything. I cant even fit a pop can sideways under the cross bar. I will be changing to a trans cross member mount this winter when building my 4l80e cross member.

Re: 4l60e questions.
Good to know. As much as I'd like tow lower it. I wont. Ohio has terrible roads. I was always told 2 seasons. Winter and pot hole season lol. We will see where I'm at. Currently 1100 in for the 5.3 and 4l60e. I think I'm doing pretty good thus far. Since winter is around the corner , I have plenty of time to save up and watch for deals. Thanks for the input Jay
