That's a very interesting bit of information. I can't comment on any differences in their construction other than they're both 304 stainless. It's the price offset that I find appealing.
Good to hear you're motoring along. Maybe some of your motivation will rub off on me. My heap has been languishing for a couple of years. Lack of sheltered work space is what's holding me back (having moved out of garage equipped house). Not to mention covid and it's associated reduction in wages and hobby spending.
We'll done.

Yea, the holley true dual system is not the cheapest route by far, but I bit the bullet based on reviews, and overall I'm happy with it.

Yea, its definitely been crazy with covid, plus we had a cat3 hurricane here last year.... I think it messed alot people up with jobs and now materials are at an all time high... at least down here..

Just stay with it... a little progress is better than no progress

Re: 1986 Camaro LS Swap build

Hey guys.. been awhile..

We had another hurricane down here a few months ago (cat 4) but the car is safe. Car is still driving flawless and everything is working as it should.

I recently replaced the inner and outer door seals and window weatherstripping. Next is the t top weatherstripping.

I'm almost ready to begin my iron gen 3 LS1(5.3 to 5.7) build.

The 5.3 has been dissembled down to the bare block , and I have attained some gen IV rods for kicks to use on the rebuild.

I have an existing (spare) 5.3 dbc harness, ls6 complete intake, and 243 heads (I might send these off to get ported to achieve the 500hp)I will be using.

Existing 5.3 crank, thinking of getting some forged LS1 pistons to attach to gen IV rods. Unsure about cam..

The goal is 500hp(425-430rwhp). I also rebuilt another 4l60e for this build, so it's waiting on me...

This will be my first complete engine assembly after I get the block back from the machine shop, and the complete rotating assembly balanced.

Any suggestions, comments, concerns... Please comment below.

Sorry I am jumping in here late. I am doing an LS swap on an 82. You can use all your original gauges minus the speedo if it is cable driven. Speedbox makes an adapter that will allow you to use your factory speedo. Tach wires into the wire off the bulkhead connection one end of tach wire goes to a 680 ohm resistor, other end toa 12V switched ignition source. Fuel gauge will work if you are using the stock tank. I am using one out of a 2000, ohms are different so I am working through that trying to use the gauges out of the 2000 if I can figure wiring

You may have answered this previously but I didn’t see it. Is that the truck intake you’re running, and are you still using the truck alt./ps bracket?

You clearly have much more patience than I do.

Sorry, I'll do wiring work all day before I do that. I'm currently looking for a good dash cover for my wife's car.
