5.3 vs 6.0 build
First, yes, I've spent hours researching, lol! I'm at the point where I'm ready to step into the 21st century and do an ls. Not going bracket racing, just want a daily driver that'll take 99 percent of whatever is next to me at a red light. So first, single or twin turbos? Leaning towards twins. But since I'm not building a race car, i wanna kind of budget the short block. That being said, goal is as close to 4 digit flywheel power as i can get without spending a fortune on a fully built motor. Thinking 6.0 with good forged pistons and rods will suffice? I've seen all the junkyard boost builds on YouTube. So basically asking who's actually done it, and what where your results?

There's only a finite amount of power that street tires will hold on your drive to Wal-Mart. I think it's more about traction, suspension, stall converter & gears, and 60' time than it is about how much power you make.

1000 hp and cheap dont exist. Once you past 500rwhp on these cars traction is near impossible on street rubber.

Stock 5.3 and a s480 turbo and be done. If realllly budget, go vs racing s400 clone for abit less but midwest racing turbo has s480’s for 750-800$.
put a small stage 1-2 turbo cam and thats it
most expensive thing is a 900$ converter and a properly built th400 trans for it. I suppose you could go 4l80e but you dont need overdrive with a 3.00-3.08 gear. Will need 9” or 12 bolt. Put a 275/60 radial under it. Only way to really hook up, but the larger 295-305 17/18/19 wheel drag radials can handle 700-800 whp somewhat

will do Justin, thanks! I maybe shouldn't divulge this, lol, but my "test vehicle" is not gonna be one of my third gens. Gonna first do a turbo setup in my avalanche, then, whenever i get around to it, transplant it into one of the cars🙂

Just out of curiosity, anybody know of anyone that's tried the 1200 dollar twin kit on Amazon? For that price I'm not afraid to take on for the team lol
