Re: Hello i`m new here with my Iroc-z `88
welcome to the boards. ive learned this site is one of the best for third gen info.
that sounds about right, i think. i believe the fans should kick on around 220 degrees, which should be around what you said, 115 celsius. these cars are known for running hot. just make sure your air dam is intact, plastic scoop that leads up to the condensor/radiator. you could swap the thermostat out to a 180 farenheit/83? celsius to get it to run a bit cooler. i recently pulled my condensor out and noticed the car runs a LOT cooler. like at 190 farenheit/87? celsius. not good at celsius to farenheit conversions, so i hope im close.

Re: Hello i`m new here with my Iroc-z `88
heey
thanks for the fast reply
so i must swap the thermostaat?
is it simply to do that?
when the car is 115 celcius the fan go kick on
but there is no smoke under the hood
by other europeen cars, wen they go higher than 90 Celsius there is a lot of smoke under the hood that means there is to hot water!
and wen i drive in the car the meter go to 70 - 75 celsius
wen i stand still a few minit`s the meter go to 115 celsius en than kick the fan on!

Okay here are a few conversions
140*F= 60*C
150*F= 66*C
160*F= 71*C
170*F= 77*C
180*F= 82*C
190*F= 88*C
200*F= 93*C
210*F= 99*C
220*F= 104*C
230*F= 110*C
240*F= 116*C
I have a Stage 2 Stewart Water pump, 180stat, and Royal Purples Coolant Additive (Up to 30*F cooler). I stay between 170-200 depending on humidity and temp of weather.
If your car always runs hot and cant let it cool down turn your HEAT on FULL BLAST..this will take the steam/overflow coolant in through the heater core and let some of the heat from the radiator out....helps if your fan doesnt kick on...just sucks in the summer.
P.S. I have no condensor or lower air dam.

Okay....
If you have a single fan setup your normal fan turn on is at 220*F or 104*C
If you have dual fans your fan turn on is at 220*F (first fan) and 245*F (second fan).
Like said these cars were MADE to run hot....but doesnt mean they should be.
Anything in the 170-200*F or 77-93*C is good...anything past 210-215*F I consider bad....BUT THATS JUST ME.

Re: Hello i`m new here with my Iroc-z `88
um, smoke under the hood is not a good thing. the fact you dont see any under the hood is good.
the air dam draws air into the radiator when you are driving. its the only way really the radiator gets airflow. when your sitting still, the radiator doesnt recieve that airflow and begins to heat up causing the fan to kick on.
you CAN change the thermostat, but it seems that your car is running fine. just make sure the coolant level is good and you should be okay. if you do, id only really swap in a 82 celsius thermostat.

Re: Hello i`m new here with my Iroc-z `88
i have a version with 2 fans!!
maybe is my meter not okey,
i will try to meet the temprature in the radiator (cool water)
how hot it is inside than i`m sure the meter in the car is okey or not
but i must wait 1 week my camaro is to the garage for a manuel gear problem
the company where i have buy the car will fix it for mee for free
so when the car is back i will try some things with the temprature!
many thanks for the answers
