First 100% complete detail *Pic Intensive*
I always detailed my car, claybaring, using glazes, carnaubas...etc But this time I went all the way. I purchased a Porter Cable 7424 and buffed the whole car.
My steps were:
Wash -> Claybar -> Orange Pad using OP (Optimum Polish) -> White Pad using OP -> Black Pad using Clearkote RMG (Red Machine Glaze) -> and one coat of Pinnacle Souveran Carnauba Paste Wax (I plan on adding a few more layers).

Let me know what you think!

Wednesday of next week i'll be giving my soon-to-be-delivered porter cable a try and your gonna have some competition!
Anyway, the car looks amazing (as always). Now did you wash after the clay bar or just go straight to the orange pad??

Thanks guys. It took quite some time, but it was well worth it.
After I claybared, I just gave it a quick whipe down with a quick detailer and went to the orange pad. For some reason, the clear on my hood and roof is really hard. I actually needed a more agressive compound for it.

Holy chit! That guy wasn't kidding when he told me that machine glaze was kick ***! Has your car been repainted or is that original paint? You need to do a good photoshoot with a good camera now! You should also post up pics of your hard work on autopia.org, they'll love that over there. I'm hoping to do a full detail on my car soon now that I have my Clearkote stuff and new pads awaiting.

I'll try and get better pictures. I just snapped those real fast because I didn't have much time.
The car has been repainted (before I purchased it), it is not original paint. It had Van Nuys paint, I am not surprised it had to be repainted, lol.

Re: First 100% complete detail *Pic Intensive*
I just got my Tropi-care porter cable kit in the mail today and i'm gonna do the full detail to my car on Wednesday. My question is, what do i do around my stripes (which obviously take up a large portion of my car). I am assuming I SHOULDNT use the swirl remover on them...but what about the polish that im using? Would that do any damage to the vinyl? If i can put the polish on the stripes, can i use the PC with a blue pad or should i do it by hand?
Remember, my steps will be wash>claybar>swirl remover>polish>1-2 coats of carnuba moose wax

Re: First 100% complete detail *Pic Intensive*
Sorry for the late replies, just got home from Myrtle Beach.
I had to do it after work, which didn't give me much time. I finished the whole car in four days.I just got my Tropi-care porter cable kit in the mail today and i'm gonna do the full detail to my car on Wednesday. My question is, what do i do around my stripes (which obviously take up a large portion of my car). I am assuming I SHOULDNT use the swirl remover on them...but what about the polish that im using? I would stay away from the Vinyl all together. But to make sure, I'd ask Tropi-Care. Most people do the swirl remover/polishes by machine, and wax by hand. But it is up to you how you want to put the wax on. Your steps look good.
Make sure you give it 24 hours cure time between waxes. Supreme Member

Re: First 100% complete detail *Pic Intensive*
I detailed the car wednesday and i just took it out for the first time today and man it looks good. What i need to do is wipe off the small spots of wax that i missed and snap some quick pictures before it gets dusty. I actually started using the claybar on the stripes and after one quick motion i noticed some red in the clay so i said "HELL NO" and didnt go any further.
Basically i did:
-wash
-claybar
-wiped off each panel after claying it
-Porter Cable & Tropicare TC-8 swirl remover on speed #5 (orange pad)
-Porter Cable & Tropicare TC-3 Polish/Sealant on speed #4 (blue pad)
-Porter Cable & Microfiber bonnets to buff out the sealent (which was pretty stubborn!)
-Porter Cable & Clearkote Moose Wax on speed #4 (blue pad)
-Moose Wax on the stripes and awkward areas by hand
-Wiped it all off with microfiber towels.
Next time i wash it ill probably do another coat of Moose Wax. It goes on so easy with the PC!!!!
And damn i really need to get some pictures and make my own topic already!

Hey IROC5.7, since it seems you are the king of detailing, what polishes should I use with my paint. I know your not supposed to wax cars for 4-6 months with new paint thats why I am coming to you(I had my car painted two months ago). Can you recommend me any polishes or cleaners I can use to keep my car shiny (thinking about getting the buffer you got so recommend stuff for a buffer to)? Also where do you purchase your cleaning accessories?
Thanks Tim
