saying goodbye to my first car
saying goodbye to my first car
it is going to be tough because i have a lot of time, money, and fun into my car. it has been a blast but when a cavalier beat me on the highway i said that's enough. i am upgrading to this, although it will never have the looks of a 3rd gen, it is close.

it may be faster, but i think you'll regret it down the road. theres a few 3rd gens on the road but everyone and their uncle has a 4th gen.
nothing wrong with an LT1 either, but you're already at a disadvantage compared to an LSX when it comes time to mod.

that 3rd gen would be really nice if it had the black door handles, but good luck with the 4th gen, it may be uglier but at least it wont loose to a cavalier!

I can't hate on you for wanting to go faster but your 3rd gen is nice (exept the hood IMHO). Hey at least you're gonna get another Camaro so its ok.
Hell in the end as long as you're happy with it, it's all that matters.
Still, hope there was a way you could both. Good luck with the SS.

Re: saying goodbye to my first car
first off i suggest keeping the 3rd.
second, if you want a 4th, that one is way overpriced. At least in my eyes. I see good LS1 cars for only $500 - $1000 more around here

Re: saying goodbye to my first car
it is as underpriced as a 4th gen can get. it is a 1 of 2499 made ss. 1st year of the ss in 24 years. it has the even rarer option of factory slp exhaust. it's got leather, t tops, power everything, etc. the average book value for it is 11,500.
but i agree, overpriced.

Re: saying goodbye to my first car
IMO, just get a LT1/T56 & put those in your 3rd gen. 4th gens have power, stock, but traded in styling/looks for the extra power.
Pretty simple swap. WAY wasier than a LS1 swap.

i say get the ss but you should be banned for betraying us
also thats quite a bit of miles on it granted its nice buts thats 100k miles of beating. i say give the guy $100 to hold on to it and look for something else

Re: saying goodbye to my first car
You have the $6000 to buy the SS, but not the $2000 for a LT1/T56?
Yeah....You can sell your car...You gonna get $6000 for it? No.
Re: saying goodbye to my first car
here you go http://nashville.craigslist.org/car/732359485.html buy this and get a new motor and trans and save $2500 there are good deals out there.
And what the hell man your car is sweet i love the hood (i wouldnt put it on my car cause of the way it looks straight on) you have obviously put a lot of time and money into your car, just dont race anybody for a little bit save and get a 6 speed

Re: saying goodbye to my first car
I agree with everyone, and Stephen. Your 3rd gen looks much nicer and you're not going to get $6,000 out of it, so with the difference you'd have to pay for the SS, you could do the LT1/T56 swap. Better decision, IMHO. It's up to you though.

How much are you asking for your third gen? If you are located near me at all, I may be interested. It looks amazing and you've done almost everything to it that I would have.
I love 4th gens almost as much as I do 3rds, but that SS isn't the best bet for you dude. If you want a 4th gen, look for an LS1 car. Not only do the look nicer IMO, but they've got the ***** to back up to that Cavalier and tell it to speed up. lol.

Re: saying goodbye to my first car
I know what you mean, it's pretty tough. I almost cried when I had to sell my '87 Camaro.
It's your business, and if you like the 4th gen and really want it then go for it.
I know what you're saying though. I remember what it's like to be 17. I used to it when my little 2.8 would get ed by cars that had no business being faster than a Camaro.
Things changed though. I know my '92 Z28 isn't the fastest thing on the road, but that doesn't matter much anymore. I'm just happy to have a nice, clean 3rd gen. When I take it out for a cruise it turns plenty of heads just because there's not tons of them out there anymore. But, having said that, I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't mind having a nice '98-02 Z28 or SS capable of running 13's.

And that 4th gen is almost in LS1 price range as the others have said. Keep the thirdgen!
