:( my beloved thunderguts
well today after work on my way out to a friends house to give him some order slips for brakes for his s10 i was messing with the radio and looked up and then it hit me, i saw right infront of my now terrified eyes a shiny new ford fusions rear bumper right in my face, i slammed the peddle with such a force that my leg still pains from it, my beast, my baby trying valiently to slow herself to a stop only to fail and slide right into the back of said ford, everyone was okay and everything worked out, no major damage to his new car, we shook hands after making sure we were both alright and then he said "no damage we dont need to get the cops involved" and we both drove off, me after having to pop the hood and check that everything was still okay from what felt like a MUCH harder impact which rendered the car stalled on old state route 40 with atleast 30 cars lined up behind me, i finally got her fired and off to a praking lot (pizza hut) and inspected her further, nothing was loose or broken so i assumed she was okay, i guess the force of the hit and my total let off of the gas on my poorly tuned carb is what stalled her, and i drove off to the gas station where my friend and i gave her a good once over and found that either my hood is sitting about 2-3cm too high and higher on one side then the other, or my bumper was forced down that same height by the crash, my questions are as follows, is this a serious issue, or can she still do interstate without flipping the hood up over itself and into my windshield? also would jacking he front bumper back up to where it should be work? i cant quite understand why the hood wont hold itself down as far anymore, nothing looks moved or bent or cracked or broken? anyone? also sorry for telling such a long dramatic tale......and my atrocious typing

Re: :( my beloved thunderguts
don't jack on the bumper lol. Where did the car make contact? Check the fender bolts for movement (paint lines showing). If anything's bent it's probably one of the brackets holding the header panel (fiberglass thing the lights bolt to) to the core support. Or the hood latch part on the hood itself. Plastic tends to pop back into place so it probably hit harder than it looks like it did. Can you post some pictures?

dont have any, its night time now, but tomorrow i will, and to think just today at work (autozone) i considered myself lucky because the car remained unscathed as two trucks barreled into each other almost right infront of her

Re: :( my beloved thunderguts
i do know the headlight bracket you mentioned was cracked, but on the side that seems to be still in place, and i tried to do some bending back of the metal brackets that those brackets go to and it proved to work almost not at all

Re: :( my beloved thunderguts
well messing with the carb today when a car full of hoodlums (the suspects from my firebird getting egged) yelled at me that they were gonna f my car up, well i sent this message to the drivers mom "tell your son, his friends and anyone else in the car yesterday, that if i catch them on my property, or within 100 feet of my car, i'm gonna bust a whole in your sons ***, this is fair warning just so you know" hopefully my damn thirdgens will be left alone now, idk why but alot of people hate my awesome cars........jealousy? beat on what you wish you had?

If that's what you want I don't care. I was more concerned with why someone is targeting you. People tend to be, for the most part, not as destructive without an incentive of sorts.
So, why did you **** them off?

Re: :( my beloved thunderguts
Since you already threatened to shoot them, that's probably not the greatest idea anymore, but an open carried .45 ACP 1911 will cause most hooligans to rethink their plans. Make no mistake, if you actually shoot them, you will go to jail. If you shoot anywhere near their general direction and your life is not clearly and obviously in danger to a jury in a court of law, you will go to jail.
Instead perhaps a better way is to not say anything, dont yell. Just calmly walk behind their vehicle and write down their license plate number, and then take as many pictures as you can, especially if they start vandalizing your vehicle. It takes a special kind of idiot to continue with vandalism when it's obvious you're filming them, so the more obvious you make your surveillance attempts, the better. Im not aware of your situation but maybe investing in some sort of motion activated camera would be a good idea. A trail and game camera would probably work pretty well, just make sure they can't take it in the process of their vandalism.

Re: :( my beloved thunderguts
no gun neccessary, we live in a small town, and things work differently here, and after an unexpected visit at his home from me and my 2x4, and a less then polite conversation with his father i trust everythings been handled, my family owns quite alot of property on my hill, with posted "tresspassers will be shot signs" which is considered fair warning if i'm correct, so i told the boys father simply that i will exercise my second amendment rights as i see fit if hes ever on my property again, i know this already sounds like a scene from goodfellas but i handed him a 9mm bullet and then walked away, as i left i heard him screaming at his son to stay the f away from me, funny i've never seen myself as a "bad kid" before but i guess i'm seen that way now, maybe i took it too far, but have you tried to deal with a delinquent youth nowadays, even when i was a trouble maker i never vandalized someones stuff because i didn't have it or anything like that, and i wasn't openly stupid enough to get threatened and still keep doing it like nothing happened, i feel his parents failed in raising him

Re: :( my beloved thunderguts
I've had that exact same thing... What happens is the bumper basically twists up and back. Your bumper skin seems fine, but you'll need to have the innards straightened up or replaced entirely.
Is your hood steel or fiberglass? Mine's fiberglass and the pressure from the upper edge of the bumper got the hood skin unglued from its frame. Check for that.

steel hood, i basically unbolted everything and then let it all straighten back out and bolted it all back up, gap seems fine now back to normal pretty much, the plastic supports were cracked but i just kinda pushed em back in place, and all is well
