Whats up everybody, Im new & have a question or 2
Whats up everyone, Let me introduce my self, names Marty and finally got my self another 3rd gen. Ive got a relatively clean 84 Z that needs some options added and I figured this would be the best place to start.
Evidently, the only options that came with my car are tilt wheel and a rear window defroster, go figure. The car is still sporting its original black paint and it still SHINES!!! with a few coats of wax of course, it had grey interior but has been swapped for red 87 IROC interior at some point along with a TBI style 350 with a carb. The reason Im here is I added a set of Interpart 3 piece aluminum window louvers and every time i slam the hatch it distorts my makeshift locks I fabricated (out of door shims). I had an 86 coupe back in 2011 that was totaled by an idiot friend back in 2013, that car still exists in my back yard. That car had electric windows, power door locks and most important, a power hatch pull down. I need to figure out what it takes to add that pull down to my 84. Ive searched high & low but all Ive found is how to repair the pull down, not how to add it to the car. I do plan on adding the electric windows but thats not my main concern.
Has anyone on here ever added one to a car? whats all involved? I already anticipate Ill have to R&R everything from the 86 to the 84 but im curious if there are any tips to make the job easier. Could the 84 already have a harness to plug into? Anything that makes this job easier is greatly appreciated.
If anyone is interested in following the build or just curious as to what the car looks like, here you go and

The power lock harness is integrated into the power window harness, it's as far as I can tell a seperate harness that you can take out of one car and put into the other. The rear hatch pulldown might be a bit more work. Not sure if the rear body panel inner structure is the same.

Seeing that Sun Engine Analyzer in your vid was a real blast from the past; haven't seen one of those in 50 years.
