Introducing myself and my 82 Bird project !!Updated!!!
My name is Joshua, ive been working on as many cars as i could get my hands on since i was 14, im 20 now and after the loss of the car i invested my world into i finally managed to do it again except with a bird this time.
I bought this car about 6 months ago, its a 1982 recaro trans am, with the Lu5 crossfire. th200 tranny, posi disc rear with 323.
I saw it on mispelled craigslist ad for 900 bucks, no info, just a phone number, which was the wrong number. I knew this was the car for me, i sent a few emails, sure enough the next day i got a call.
I pretty much went out there with the intent to buy the car no matter what. When i pulled up, i saw it on a trailer. It was wrecked, neglected, sat for 12 years, little rusty, partially dissasembled. All the lady said was, "She'll run". I only had 400 bucks, i told her that i would give her this money and be back friday with the rest. she agreed
I unfornutatly didnt take very many pics of when i got it, except one, and it doesnt show the passenger side that was wrecked.
Nyway, its been hell, i spend every cent i can scrounge up, ive eaten ramen noodles for 5 months, but i swapped the crappy old driveline for a rebuilt 355-700r4 combo, ive done everything with only a single car garage. The Rusty Engine bay has been restored, got the centerlines i saw in my dream. and replaced everything thats goes along with this kind of stuff. Im keeping the crossfire by the way, and hopefully will have her running very soon.

sry for the small pics, i cant afford a digital camera right now. All i need now is the spohn tranny brace, and to have my crossfire tb's rebushed, and have a shop run my exhaust from my headers back.
my wishlist, 3 inch fiberglass cowl hood, new bfg's for my centerlines, have my bashed in quarter fixed, koni shocks, and FRICKIN ROOTS STYLE S/C BABY

pics, the driver side is her good side, if yal would have seen the passenger side quarter panels, and the rear end damage, you would have told me to scrap the car

I always wanted an 82', nice score. Great work on the engine bay too, the cowl hood will look nice, but if i were you and were keeping the crossfire, I'd find one of the stock turbo bulge induction hoods with the crossfire set up, I love mine, and it'll keep the car more stock looking, kind of sleeper like.

Do you have a spacer under that carb? If so why didn't you just remove that and drop it down a bit so it would fit under the hood. I'm worried mine air filter would be too high as well because of the engine upgrade and the intake I'm going to use. but that last thing I will do is ruin the hood like that lol

The spacer is just to use the quadrajet on my square bore intake, i use a holley now without the spacer but it still sticks up out of the hood. ill be throwing this hood in tha garbage soon. ive got a nice blower and will need atleast a 4 in cowl

i think if you were to cut just the inner structure of the hood, you should have enough clearance with a holley or edelbrock on a mid rise intake
