engine tips
here it is, the new heart for my camaro, getting rid of the dog v6. i got smoked by a girl in a 4th gen z28 yesterday, never again. any tips hints comments on v6 to v8 swaps would be appreciated as the looming dread of replacing my wiring harness draws near. any engine horsepower tips would be good now as i still have it in the building stage.

Get painless wiring. It is a lot easier than buchering the stock wiring (I know from experience). Second mark everything you keep. Now if this is going to be a summer only car. You can take out the heater and AC vents (if you want to), take up all the sound deadener in the carpet and take of such things as all the computers, all the sensors, you charcoal filter and smog pump (so on and so forth). There is a ton of crap you can do.

those are bs ideas, **** painless, it's a pain in the ***, get rid of your v6 harness and buy a 305 harness of ebay (if you got a MAF go with it, if not go sd, it's cheaper) unless your running a carb, if you run a carb, you don't need a harness, get rid of the ones that goes through the passenger fender all together. Don't forget that d/s length might need to be changed. all your gauges work independently of your computer/engine wiring harness, so if you go carb, ditch all of that, if not, you can get a memcal for a v8 and a v8 wiring harness/intake and it'll all snap together like a glove...
as far as hp tips, those are bs, ac heat and sound deadening are weight, not hp, even the compressor doesn't draw enough parasitic to matter. Get a windage tray, roller cam, roller lifters, afr hydrarev kit, don't waste $ on a hp oil pump, it hurts you, balance it for sure, if it's not 2.02-2.08 change it now, if you do the heads get screw in struds and springs for a lift about .15 more than you need cuz you'll probally wanna change cams later, electric water pump, lifter galley tray, anything lighter weight in the engine is better (except maybe a crank, depending how your setting yours up) because it takes less time to spin up...thats starters...you can take it from there....

Well
I didn't think I was talking about hp adding.. I was talking about lightening up the car, but hey. Believe what you want. Oh yes 305 harness are so awesome. I donated mine to the automotive program because it was alll useless JUNK. Painless is easy if your not a retard. But hey, I'm outie.

hey thanks for the tips,
i had the crank and rods balanced and have a roller cam and lifters. i was going to do the screw in studs and springs but it got to much $$. maybe later. im keeping the tpi for emissions and fuel economy sake. i have the harness out of the donor, not looking forward to it though. gonna keep the ac though i know ill cook in that thing in the dead of summer. hopefully i wont have to mess with the driveshaft.
to switch to speed density do you just get a new prom and get rid of the maf?

i dont know but ill i can say is take your time do right the first time so you dont have to come back later to fix it and have fun.
good luck with your car.
good luck with your car.
I wouldnt spend the money on a aftermarket harness. if you are going to use a 700R4 tranny you wont have to mess with a driveshaft. dont forget the motor mounts, radiator, and front springs also

from what i understand, sd requires a new prom or ecm (one or both), and a slight hack job on the harness. It's supposed to be pretty easy, but i dunno.
Yea, the little things bite you in the ***, i'm going from carb to lt1 intake/tpi injection...the little $5 and $10 things i have to buy from all over and have shipped are holding me back.
the 305 harness is fine, it's a good harness, i put the couple hundred bucks i'd have to pay for painless toward something else, i might be the retard, but i've got $200 more in my pocket that you do yours
