Has anyone in Illinois heard the rumor that all OBD1 cars are now exempt from emissions testing?
If anyone has seen anything about this please link, I couldn't find anything on the emissions site.

heard up here in WI they are discontinuing the emissin testing al together said they spen $13million a year on it and only 1 in like 5000 cars fails and of the ones thatdo fail like 75% of those get mechanics to write up a bill for over the $400 they need to spend and then it gets waived on through so the state said they were going to spend the money on something that would be more beneficial to the residents of the state

It went into effect Feb 1st of 07. If your car was not due for a test (you would have gotten a notice) then you are exempt if the vehicle is MY 95 or older. All MY 96 and new cars are still tested every two years.

You guys are lucky, that law doesn't take effect in Missouri until September and my plates expire in April.
