i was on my way to visit some relatives in mansfield this morning, got 15 miles from home, and slid my daily driver (1990 plymouth acclaim) off the cloverleaf into a grass embankment.
had to climb out the passenger's side. buried the front wheels. i call my parents and explain the situation, they ended up calling the state patrol.
state trooper pulls up, laughs and says, "you cant park there." he ended up having me sit in the front of the crown vic with him, so we could sort out the towing issue, and getting ahold of family. very cool guy, was showing me how some of the equipment worked.
my parents showed up behind the tow truck and mom asked the trooper if i was in any trouble. he laughed and said, "no, we get these all the time, it's a high accident area, maybe a parking ticket." he laughed again, and said, "no, everything is fine."
kinda
about the car but
that i had a lucky break with a nice trooper.

Lucky you Robert...any damage to the car or just lots of caked mud? Glad to see some cops have a sense of humor. It seems most these days would have taken the time to write you a ticket for excessive speed due to road conditions but this guy had heart.
nah, Rob, all that happened was dirt got pushed into the bead on my left front tire, made it go flat.
$30 bucks to pull the car out
$10 bucks to fix the tire.
not bad deal
Rob, sorry to have read about your florida trip. Wish it could have been under better circumstances.
I'm also looking for a new job, i need one like yesterday
Going on three weeks now, still haven't found anything

I'm not a cop, yet....
....I'm in the military....Military Police
we drive 2001 Impalas. with the V6 3800 engines and police packages.
the local cities drive the crown vics, they have also been switching to impalas.
so has state.
state around here don't drive B4Cs, they have unmarked vics and impalas. going north they have the B4Cs, usually up in the richmond, DC area.
I also have done lots of ride along with the local cops, I've got a few friends that got out and went to the local departments.

PS when I went down to Ft Bragg over the summer I saw about 10 state guys in all different types of cars in about a 25 mile strip of I95 in NC. all of them were running radar on the side of the road or had someone pulled over

So what are the Impalas like as a chase vehicle? They get no respect like the big boy Vics. What's considered in the poice package? and how many hp compared to stock?

car does have pep to it, and it is fun to drive. It is slower than my stock 350, but just about as fast as the 305 i had. But you have to remember that no matter how fast you go you can't beat the radio. (old cop saying)
also talking to a state guy last year he told me the state vics had a governer set at 95mph.
the police packages also help when it comes to running the car all day 24 hrs a day. the cars we use are driven 24 hrs a day with a average speed of 25mph. it puts alot of wear and tear on them. 2001 with 40,000 non hwy miles is the average of what we have.

FWIW, the crown vic i sat in that morning had approx 20k miles on it.
i have a cousin who owns a pair of 1994 caprice 9C1 models, one had 95k miles, the other one had 115k when he picked them up from auction.
