Just stopping by to say hello, I'm Mark from CT. Bought an '86 Camaro Z28? Don't know much got it cheap runs like crap. Cheap impulse buy, now I'm planning on restoring it for fun. 305 that burns a lot of oil, t-tops that leak, interior beat to hell, exhaust rotting off, floor rot? Oh well it'll be a fun ride one day.

Re: CT N00b

you can do small stuff and get it ready to run for the summer. the 305 is easy enough they are everywhere and 350's will fall right into place as well. but i would deff take care of the rot in the floor boards first. have fun with it. good luck.

Re: CT N00b

Thanks! Just picked up an engine hoist tonight to pull the 305 out, keeping my eyes open for the right 350. Can anyone point me into the right direction as to what to do with that floor rot? It's only in that one spot and I don't even know where to start looking for info. As much work as it needs, not too bad for 400 bucks right?

Re: CT N00b

Well its kinda hard to tell the extent of the damage to the floor boards but it dosnt look good lol. Unfortunately the only way to really fix that would be to cut it out and weld in a new piece which isnt too bad it just takes time as you have to pull up the carpet and all and probably pull a seat and weld the new piece in place. All and all doesn't look to bad pretty typical stuff for a car thats soon old enough to be declared an antique lol.

Re: CT N00b

as for the floor rot i would pull up the carpet and check. my car looked good but when i pulled up the carpet i had 2 nice size holes in the back seats floor pan. from the t-tops leaking.

Re: CT N00b

agreed, I pulled my interior apart, put 4 patches in my floors, reconstructed my rockers and then painted it all with rust bullet topped with rustoleum gloss black, looks really nice.. the metal work isn't bad as long as you have access to a welder (but then again I love fabricating).

as for parts, we in CT have a guy who parts a ton of these cars out, his names fred, he goes by tpi-hearse on here, contact him and he'll hook you up.
