Yea good times, Heres a crappy picture, lighting suxs. And one of my time slips. No bad considering im having a huge boost loss issue when shifting gears. Made a 14.12 sec run this morning. I know this car will run mid 13s easy if I can just get the boost control right.

MPH say 13's all day....lol the 660 and 1000 ft times are not right on this slip.. I dont know why, but the 60ft and the 1/4 mile is

Thanks Mark! Last night was pretty nice, got to meet another fellow ThirdGen! Ran 15.72 with a completely stock 89 Formula 305 tpi. Time to make some adjustments

Hello all! I'm looking for a ThirdGen mechanic in the westside Cleveland area. I'm trying to get my IROC running smooth for the summer and I've done about all I can do myself and would rather get someone who really knows what they're doing to take a look at it. If anybody has any recommendations please let me know!

Re: Ohio?
Not real sure it would make it all the way over there haha. But if you ever find yourself out this way I would love to have someone's opinion on what me and my pops are missing with this damned car. Had the motor rebuilt a couple years back and put it all back together. It just never runs right. We have thrown the kitchen sink at this car and I'm sure it's something frivolous holding it back, we just can't find it!

the only time you see weather updates on there website is when its cancled. But they are racing tonight as we speak. I had graduation from HVAC so I cant go till tommorow. The best bet is always to watch the radar when In doubt. As I do that all the time.

Yeah, Norwalk started up about 8, and went on until 11:30 or so. Radar looked horrible, but it cleared up really fast. Radar looks pretty good today, going to be humid though

Re: Ohio?
the auburn unit u have will also fit the 3rdgen rear has to be 89 or newer though
89-2002 use a 28 spline carrier/posi and axles the 93-2002 axles are longer since the 4thgen rear is wider but if u pick up a 89-92 rear u can just reuse the axles that are in the rear with ur auburn

Re: Ohio?
Tis almost the weekend. I landed a good Hvac job as a tech. So Im not sure how much time Ill get at the race track. But the most important thing is, over the last 6 months I completed my Hvac tranning, turboed my car, and landed a job. I've had this camaro for 10 years and just finally had the time and $$ to do what I wanted the most. Make it a badd a$$ lil V6 Camaro!!!
So this weekend will be a great get away at Norwalk. Still hunting for those 13's. Im only 0.03 seconds away from a 13.99. Hope the track treats me well. Wish me luck!

Good old Norwalk raceway park. SMSP. And I love this pic of my small V6 wrinkling those slicks. Impressive I think.
You gotta admit Azrael91966669 it is pretty cool to see a V6 run 14 flats. Ive beeten a good amout of V8's out there but yours is so nice. Seeing your engine look like a stock car but yet running 13's. My goal is to get up to where your at this year.

Got my headers installed on my bird, Hooker 2055's. Sounds amazing! Only gotta get a temp sensor and a small length of ball flange pipe to completely finish it up. Other than the one header bolt that I can't get a wrench on. It's on the passenger side, very back. Any tips? It's only threaded about halfway in, and I really don't want to lose it lol.

bent wrench or short one
you should have threaded the rear one done by hand and then slipped the header into it

Heres the ADX with the guages I added, the stock bin and the modded bin file.
But heres a tip since you can burn now.... dont use the modded bin I sent, read up on tuning more, and then change the fan temp to where you want it on the stock bin and start fresh. Its better for you to learn on your own why your car is stock. A stock car is easy as crap to tune.

Re: Ohio?
Just change the fan 1 on temp to say 170-180.
You need to start taking dataloggs on every run when you WOT at the track if at all possible. Its easier to take a average of all the values. You MAIN changes are going to be in the timing and fueling tables only.
You going to hear this from me a million times as ive heard it a million times
A good tune="give the car what it wants" No 2 cars are the same and when adding modifications thers no set values that need changed. You just need to watch spark knock, in your case, the o2 voltage, and the raw MAF volts.
Call me after we get off work tonight and ill give you a walk though and chrash course on whats important in datalogging.

Re: Ohio?
phoenix im just wondering why your tuning so early
the ecm should have enough adjustment stock for where you are at
just adding headers to a stock peanut cammed lb9 shouldnt need a tune yet lol
i could be wrong but i used the same lb9 ecm for all these combinations
lo3 with tpi on it stock manifolds ran 15.8
lo3 with 1.6 rockers and stock manifolds 15.6
lo3 with 1.6 rockers and tpi lb9 manifolds 15.5
lo3 with 1.6 rockers and tpi and headers 15.1
lb9 l98 cammed with tpi and lb9 manifolds 15.0 only setup my ecm was ment to run
lb9 l98 cam tpi 1.6 rockers lb9 manifolds 14.8
lb9 l98 cam tpi 1.6 rockers headers 14.6
zz3 tpi headers 13.5
the 305 ecm even runs my zz3 so it really should handle any 305
im just saying the ecm has enough adjustment to run all of those combos.
i would wait to do tuneing till you have done some more mods .
im sure yes any stock ecm can be tuned better even from stock form but i cant see it doing to much on a stock level engine.
short of turning fans on sooner and changes to tq converter lockup but otherwise leave it alone till later its not like your gonna get major power changeing the tune on a stock engine
mind you all of my setups used the speed density setup im sure your maf setup can tell the differance with the extra airflow

Re: Ohio?
I had an unusual occurance yesterday at Summit Racing. Just as I was getting off the exit, I look in the rearview and there is a 91-92 black T/A rushing up on me and passing me as I get off the exit. I thought to myself, well that was cool. So after about 20 minutes in Summit, I leave and jump back on the highway and as I get to the top of the ramp I merge in front of a 87-90 black formula with a RAI hood! We see each other and the fun begins lol. I took off and got in the left lane in front of him behind another car. He got up behind me and as soon as the car in front switched to the right lane I hammered it down and took off down the straight and he followed suit. I was only going to the next exit, so I got in the right lane and slowed down and he came up next to me and gave me a big thumbs and I waved to him and we went our ways. Was a really nice looking formula too.
Just thought it was super strange to see 2 black thirdgen birds in the same spot on the same day within minutes, hell just seeing 1 is rare enough.

ANY car will benifit from a tune even a MAF system. You can push the limits of preformance and read the data to ensure its still safe for the engien and what "it wants" Yes MAP(speed density is where a tune is definitly needed) ButI think its good hes trying to learn about tuning as I did last year and look what I got going on my car. That would have never been possible if I wouldnt have started tuning with my car when it was stock and learning the basics.
We've had some problems connecting it but the fueling tables and timing tables are what he need to learn about as in 99% of tuning on non-boosted cars use those values. There are some basic things he can change. But like I said, a good tuner is smarter then a obd1 ecm anyday of the week.
Its best to know what the car wants, then when you add a cam, you rince and repeat, then anything you add, you just rince and repeat. Its time consuming but it ensures the safety of your car and the best preformance avalible.
Andrew once you get good at tunign in a bit, get a wideband o2 sensor kit and youll be ahead of the game. No real tuner will tune without a modded car. as its the only real way to tune the fueling on your car, period.

Re: Ohio?
Like Mark said, just learning how to do it is a huge part. Even though it won't do much, it'll give me the experience I need for when I get bigger and more expensive parts that I can't afford to screw up. Also, I put a 180 thermostat in, so the tuning equipment was necessary, might as well mess around with it a bit more since I have it anyway

Re: Ohio?
Can any of you guys with burners help me out? I have the updated .bin file from the tuner, but I need a burner and don't want to put my car down for a week to send in the chip.

Re: Ohio?
im all for you learning how to tune i just didnt want to you think its the golden ticket persay
i also didnt mean maf was the end all solution for mods i ment at this point adding headers isnt gonna throw off a maf car
from what i can tell the 305 tpi proms seem much more optimzed for makeing power then the 350 proms
btw i figured out what was causing my car to run hot the thermostat was no longer opening where it should have i just assumed there was some other issue
i replaced the radiator with an aluminum one added dual fans from a 4th gen picked up a new 160 stat and hiflow water pump
basicly replaced it all lol
i think im gonna need a 170 or 180 stat the gauge bearly rises and overcools on the freeway

Re: Ohio?
I have a 180 stat, and keep in mind I have lbout all my exhasut routing in my engine bay area. I never go above 185 even on a really hot day.

Re: Ohio?
Added a 180 thermostat and finished up my headers (nearly), ran them open at the track last night. New best ET of 15.14 (twice). My previous best was 15.56. I'm beyond impressed right now.
I know tuning won't make me drop a second or anything, but every little bit helps. Just having my fans turn on at the proper temp now since I changed the thermostat might drop me into the 15.0x's. Also, the converter lockup on the 305 auto factory was made quite a bit worse than the 305 manual/350s. Also when Mark datalogged one of my runs, it was running really lean. Changing that might help aswell. Hoping to get my computer to connect tomorrow so I can datalog and burn chips myself.
