I'm from Wellston which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere. I drive back and forth to Athens everyday to go to college at OU. The Camaro get to make the trip every once in a while.

Winks it is. I have not got my Z-28 out for the summer yet. Probably gonna do that this weekend if the weather is nice.

Got the Z-28 out and running. I also called Winks, they are not having a set schedule for cruise ins this year. So basically we can pick a weekend and just show up. The girl said Saturdays are usually the best days for alot of cars.

Sounds good to me guys. If we go Saturday and have enough people, we'll need to get there early to beat the usual crowd if we want to get the parking lot full of thirdgen's.

Hey everyone, I'm from Norwalk, OH. I actually live literally 3 minutes from Summit Motorsports Park (formerly Norwalk Raceway Park).
Anyway, just bought an 89 Firebird Formula about 2 weeks ago. 305 TPI, 94k original miles on it, paid $3500. I'll definitely have it at the track this year. Anyone go to Norwalk much?

Re: Ohio?
Need help from some local Ohio drivers. I need what is found in the pdf link Fig.#1 found here.
This is the actual thread.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/exha...at-hiccup.html
The over-axle hanger bracket for the over-axle pipe. I really want one A.S.A.P. so I can finish my exhaust install over the weekend and maybe fire her up again. PLEASE someone be able to help. Maybe even stop by. I'm in the 44125 area.

Re: Ohio?
when i went 3 plus years ago there were potholes at the end of the track, and they switched to 1/8 mile instead of fixing it. but im pretty sure they let the street cars run 1/4 still.

Re: Ohio?
he does if he wants to launch with boost, though even with the drag radials u can still hear him spinning off the line even when he launches with no boost
his car will run low 13's as is if he can get a good launch with about 5 psi of boost
hell be in the low 12's once he does turn the boost up as well

Re: Ohio?
Only way possible is a mini spool or welder, which I really dont want to do. I can't afford the 400-600$ LSD units. There are some cheeper lsds out there but theres no way that I wouldn't break it in time. You have to figure im making a good 300 tq or more. Turbos make amazing amounts of torque.

Re: Ohio?
What options do I have to look for a posi rearend out of a third/4th gen camaro?
Ive seen some arround but IIRC there out of old cars like 2nd gen camaros and some early third gen. Specifically a 1982 posi with 3.08
At this point I sacrifice the gear for posi till I can buy a larger gear(3.42-3.73) But have no idea what rear fits in without any real mods.

u wont be able to swap in a posi unit without the proper tools for setting up the rear end, ur best bet is swaping in an entire rear
to pay a shop to swap the posi unit in will be about 300 bucks in labor
and ur gears arent hurting u as bad as i though ur picking up 20mph from the 1/8th to the 1/4 which is really good my car only avergaes about 17mph pickup from 1/8th to 1/4
if i were u i would find a complete rear out of a 2.8 car those will have 3.42's and use the minispool since that can be swapped between rears very easy ( prolly the cheapest option since u can usually get these for around 100 bucks)
ur current rear has disk brakes right?
the 2.8 rear will have drums and i dont recall what u need to swap from drums to discs
but i will tell u drum brakes are better for drag racing since they are self energizing they have more holding power on the starting line
edit also theres onyl a few posi units u can swap in
since u have a 92 u have 28 spline axles
89 was the changeover year from 26 to 28 spline axles
some 89's have 26 spline while others have 28's
90 and up is all 28 spline
a 4thgen torsen lsd will work since its a 28 spline unit but like i said u will need special tools and know how to install it without screwing up the gears
other option is to swap in a 4thgen rear but then u need 2 inch thick wheel spaces
and the last option is a auburn posi out of an 89-92
auburns arent worth there wieght in scrap metal, so unles su got one for free and could install it urself its not worth it

Re: Ohio?
Ok dave thanks! I have a 91. And its got the drum brakes, I was looking at the whole rear ends out of a car as im still entertaining every possible idea.
But heres another thought. When I was going into the burn out box I got the tires very wet. I never did this when I had street tires. You know how you come out of the box and the tires catch...well that never happend as Im thinking that those slicks were either too hot for the cold track or were still wet.
If I just drive out on the road and launch I can hear that turbo start to spool and I can actually launch on the road with 3psi of boost as I tried it, without spinning. Im going to the track on friday so I probly will look goofy but I plan to go arround the water then back up into the pit a hair and then just spin the tire(s) enough to feel it grip.

Re: Ohio?
its possible ur front street tires tracked water up to the starting line, also do not do ur burnout inside the water box
get the tires wet then roll ahead a few ft and then do the burnout
liek this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQkHAUPXnLg
also backing into the water will help, u arent supposed to go threw the water with street tires , only with drag radials/slicks with skinny front runner race tires on the front
if they never started to grop they were either not hot enough or to hot
nextime u do a burnout do it like ur launching the car, back up into the water give the tire a very slight spin then roll foward out of the water.
hold the brakes liek ur trying to launch and use the ebarake to lock the rears spool up the turbo drop the ebrake and release the brake and let the tires spin as u move twards the line, when they start to grip let off the gas
doing it this way will help u when staging as well, when u do a burnout holding the brakes on u over heat the rear brakes, so when u stage and try to build boost on the line the rear brakes are really hot and wont hold
so so it that way till u get a linelock for the front brakes
also how old are those dr's if they are old they may just be dryed out and really hard if so sometimes doing one really big burnout will get them to soften up again

Re: Ohio?
Yea those front tires probly tracked up water. I didnt even think of that...opps
Ive always avoided the water before but I had all street tires and though that the slicks could be ran through the water. Thanks for the help on that forsure!!!
I watched the video and that burnout looks much better then anything i did. I never got traction when I let off the gas last weekend.
The DR's are a little old. I really tried to light them up but it just didnt help but the water probly had alot to do with it I suppose.
Also thanks on the tips for the brakes. I didnt use the e-brake except the first time I launched and since I really lit them up at the line I didnt attempt it again.
Im going friday to race again. So I will try those tips and hope I hook up.

the goveners in those units always break, the fix is to remove the govener which then actually makes it an open rear
