Re: Ohio?
Hey fasteddi, I might be heading to Norwalk on Friday for some test and tune. My first time down the track was at Dragway 42 last year. That was with street tires, so my ET’s were pretty bad (low 13’s). Since then, I got a set of MT et drags and swapped the factory tpi with a First tpi unit. I’m hoping to cut a couple seconds off my time. Maybe I’ll see you there. Pic of my car:

Awsome man, Ill be there. I laughed because you said low 13s what bad. Thats what Im looking for this weekend or mabey even hitting the 12's for the first time. But you do have a V8 and a clean car too!! Ill look for ya out there, heres my car.

Hi Folks,
What is going on at norwalk that you can run your cars on the track?
I would like to try that.
I live in Lakewood.

Re: Ohio?
So you just show up at the track, is there an inspection process?
Is there a fee involved? any special equipment?
Are you allowed to have a lap top in the car to gather data?
thanks for your tips!

Re: Ohio?
Yes you can use the laptop on friday. There is no tech inspection for that day. The only thing you need is a helment if you run 13.99 or under, and a roll cage if you go 11.49 or faster. Just show up at the track to get in, gates open at 4:30pm trials start at 6pm.
This is for friday.

I'll be out there tomorrow around 5, hope to see some of you guys out there. I gotta figure out my tree again since I bolted my lower control arms...First run after bolting them, I was .009 on the tree, then started redlighting -.075 and -.099 lol. Might launch at a lower RPM so I can keep my spot on the tree, I was just getting used to that...

I hear ya. I'm from the city though, I wouldn't last in the sticks for too long, I'd be going crazy without any night clubs, or places like seaside, Great Adventure, the beach, etc. If the money is good though, that's all that really matters. You shouldn't be messing with 3rd gens though if the money is good, just buy a C6 Corvette, turbo charge it, and be done with it...
dam class 3 firearms and nfa items arent cheap
yeah there aint **** to do around here at night really but if i drive a few hours i can be in vegas, and this summer im deffinatly heading out to cali to hit the beach and do some surfing

Yes 12's looked nice with the GTA.
Heres a few videos.
Mine with a 13.31@104.7Mph, chasing that vette and doing a nice burnout.
Here's phoenixf-bird and a friend Derek in his V6 camaro. Both running 15's.
Oh yea I got one over on a new 2010+ V8 Camaro last night, it was an automatic one but I dont care, I just beat a 40K$ car!! Phoenixfirebrd is a witness... Got him by a hair but still I got him.

My 1st run I almost stalled at the launch b/c the rpms were too low. My 2nd run, I blew the coupler off the throttle body so I had to let off. It would be much easier if I had an auto.

Just bought ported SLP runners, ported Edelbrock High Flow intake, and a ported plenum. Hopefully here by Wednesday so I can race with them that night. That should keep me in the 14s for good!

Went over to Winks/Thano's in Barberton today. I was pretty happy with the response my Z-28 got. I had 5-6 people come up and talk to me, asking me questions and complimenting me on how it looked. Out of around 70 cars there I was the only 3rd gen Camaro.

Thanks, I did see you guys out there. I need a lot of practice with reaction time and launching though. That 12.76 pass was my best, but I still bogged coming out of the hole with a 2.0 60'. I guess I'm not used to getting traction.

Just got back from Smokeys Dyno down in north canton. My car is now running like it should finally. Love the power it has, and it hasn't even been dyno tuned yet. Should be getting the dyno tune done here in the next 2 weeks.

Nice. Is Smokeys gonna tune it or who is doing it? How much are they charging for dyno time and so on?

On a side note, i think i might have broken my torque converter on the way home. At first I thought it was the tranny mount, but now I don't think so. It drives fine under normal load. As soon as i romp on it, i can feel a real bad shake through the shifter and center console.

Re: Ohio?
Yeah smokeys is going to tune it. My buddy Jamy is co-owner and the best tuner i've ever met. I think a full tune runs 500+tax. I'm not sure what they charge just to do some dyno runs for hp/tq readings.

Re: Ohio?
700r4 tranny with 120k miles as far as i know. I've put a 2500 stall converter, shift kit, and corvette servo in it myself. It works fine and shifts through all the gears fine under normal load. I'm going outside right now to put the car up in the air and see if i can figure out what's wrong with it. Whenever you mash the gas, you can feel alot of shaking from the shift lever. I was on my way home yesterday and pulling away from a stop light, just pulled away... didn't mash it. At about 30 mph i heard what sounded like a piece of metal hit the ground and go bouncing. I didn't see anything out of the mirror so I pulled over. I checked the underside of the car but didn't see anything wrong so I drove the rest of the way home. The car had no issue until I heard the metal sound.

Hhmm, perhaps a retainer on the U joint cap at the rearend, or perhaps the nut off your tranny mount?

On a side note, stage 8 locking header bolts really do need to be locked in, or the damn things back out like nothing i've ever seen before. And i'll never use a set of the percy seal-4-good header gaskets again. Everybody raved about how great they are, not in my opinion...

Re: Ohio?
Turns out both the bolts that hold the mount to the tranny were missing, also my DS loop was slightly loose. Threw in two new bolts and tightened everything up, problem is fixed.

I know what you mean, I recently blew a header gasket and when I checked the bolts a few were loose, especially the 2 where the blowout happened.

It's always one thing or another. I guess I should have done more research before buy a 50 dollar set of locking header bolts. I bought a set of stage 8 locking header bolts, thinking it would be a good move. Come to find out... they don't work with hooker super comp LT headers. I finally tried to put the locks and retainers on, no dice. DAMN!

what i like to do is get longer then needed allen head bolts and screw a nut onto the bolt and i stick a lock washer under the nut, i screw the allen head bolt in untill it bottoms out in the head then use a wrench to lock the nut against the header flange doing this the nut will never back out unles su loosen it with a wrench.
its basically the same things as putting studs in except doing it this way u can lock the bolt and nut together so it wont loosen and they are very east to remove just loosen the nut and use an allen socket or wrench to uncrew the whole thing out
btw if u use stainless bolts/nuts make sure u put grphite lube or antisieze on them before u put them in

Dave i got the car started up today, ran strong but i blew a gasket on the x over to the header. Im thinking of why the f that happend as they were trqed to the max they would. Its still lean as crap when boost goes and needs tuned better but at least its getting there with the little time i have at the momtent.

ditch the gasket and try copper seal only, if u had copperseal on there with the gasket and it still blew out chances are the flange is really warped

Re: Ohio?
the main problem, is that the pipe almost seemed to move from letting it warm up a few times on the car(warping), I made a few light pulls with no issue then on the last pull i heard the car pop the gasket, sure enough look down there and there it lies have blow out.

Re: Ohio?
try using the copper seal without the gasket
heres what i would do
drop the xover and clean everything off it well, and make sure the flanges are flat , then start the engine and let it run tillthe 2 headers get really warm.
shut the engine off and put the coipperseal on the xover pipe flanges and bolt it up while the headers are still warm.
this will cure the coperseal much faster specially if there is a gap the copper seal has to fill
if that blows out to u will have to fix the flanges or build a new x over
