Re: Ohio?
Yeah, once I get the new tune emailed to me, I might come look you up, if you'd be so kind as to burn it for me. That will probably get me to low 13's right there, if it is doing what I suspect it is. Yeah, the tires are just Riken Raptor ZR's with 22K miles on them and at the wear bars on the rears, some better ones or slicks will probably cut yet another 1/10 or 2 off. I fully see a 13.0 possible with some adjustments and learning, maybe even better.
Any time on the chip burning. We can even datalogg it if you want on the lap top so you have it and can use it for reference on a later tune Just let me know.

Yeah, I see lol. No prob, I will run a 20 minute log file in the next few days and send it to pcmforless, then when they send my new tune back, I'll hit you up and we can meet up.

I have a 2500 stall converter I put in at the same time also. It's great to be able to foot brake the car up to 2500 rpm and launch from there.

Re: Ohio?
Yeah I think so. I honestly don't remember, it's been around 6 years since I did all the tranny work. The shift kit was easy as hell to install, espically with the instructions. The boost valve and servo was a different story. I bought them together as a kit from the company on here that everybody used to use. Don't even remember their name. But all I got were parts in the mail. When I contacted them about instructions, the guy told me "if you don't know how to install them, you shouldn't have ordered them". I made the guy send me some simple basic instructions and went from there.

lol maybe. Yeah i wasn't too happy when the guy told me that on the phone. I told him to send me instructions or I would post about my horrible experience on here. I had instructions a couple days later.

Re: Ohio?
Well the bird did me good in Mod Stock tonight at Norwalk. Won 3 rounds, went out in the semi-finals with a -.003 red light. Car ran unusually consistent until the last round. 15.623, 15.622, 15.611. Then a 15.497, which I just kept on it since I red lighted. Overall very happy with how the car ran, especially considering they did our rounds very fast, only about 20 minutes from rounds 2 to 3, then 10 minutes from 3 to 4. Makes me wonder why my car picked up a tenth from being freshly ran down the track lol. Still, got a little bit of hardware for being a semi-finalist.

Re: Ohio?
what was differant about your 14.86 run since the others have all be 15.5ish
when i still have a 305 in my car i had one blast that was a 14.1 but the rest where mid 14s
what is funny is im started to prefer the irocs 2.73 gearing its take off from 30-40 and 60-70
the 3.23s are ackward take off from 15-20 and 45-55 there faster at the track but daily drive sucks when your trying to pass car feels slow still when your out of that range mind you mine will always be a street car im also thinking about 3.08 gears
mark you make me want to pick up another v6 car just to toss a turbo on it not for drag racing but for general driving i much preferred the way that car handled and it would be fun to have a 14 sec v6 lol i know your faster now

Re: Ohio?
At the end of July, I put on some siamesed SLP runners and siamesed Edelbrock base. These cut the runner area down, and made more of a plenum area. This basically shifts the powerband up. For more indepth info, look at the Quest For A Better Flowing TPI sticky in the TPI forum. I'm running mid 15s because my 305 is shifting halfway through the powerband, and it's not making up for what I lost down low. I went from 2.0x-2.1x 60' to 2.2x-2.3x 60' times. I tried manual shifting to make up for this, but my 2.73 gears ruin it. Shifting at 5500 in 1st, I cross the line at 5200 in 2nd. One long shift isn't enough to make up for much. Plus I'm not stalled correctly anymore for the powerband. I still ran the best time of the night when I tried that last Wednesday, and it was right after a round loss. Rounds 1, 2, 3, and 4 were 15.62, 15.62, 15.61, 15.57. Manual shifting I went 15.49. So there is a bit of proof that I have a higher powerband, and the car can't/isn't using it.

stock stall speed very tbi converter is 1200-1800 im useing a tbi converter and its currently stalling at 1800 but trys to stall at just above 1600 my current engine is a bit powerfull for that stock converter lol
my dads 89 iroc stalls around 1500 and always has i removed the peanut cam and installed the l98 cam and the powerbad has shifted up basicly a dog off the line but once it its 30 it really starts moving
my rs tpi is stock with minor penum porting removed the wall behind the throttle body

i keep debateing on picking up a higher stall but i dont really need it yet
but even if i was looking for one id more then likely get an 1800-2000
manual shifting is crap in these cars the shifts take for ever i think it shifts faster in overdrive honestly i keep forgetting to even put it in drive at the track so used to overdrive
ive tried manualy shifting and got a 14.1 @ 98 it was my slowest time the trans just delays the shift and theres no kick to it
and are you sure your really shifting at 5500 ive hooked up a test tach to make sure mine is close 5500 is really 5800 on my tack good for the factory one atlest
my dads iroc reads 6200 at 5500 to make a comparison
did your mph go up or down after the runner base swap?
honestly there a bit much for a peanut cammed tpi
once you get the 350 in there it will make a hell of a differance
i really want to get a base and runners or im just gonna go converted lt1 just not sure yet

I'm hoping to make it to D42 Friday guys, if any of you want to come run and hang out. I have a new tune being worked on as we speak, and am hoping to get it burned before the races. I plan to go full bore this time, so I fully expect a very low 13 out of it.

Re: Ohio?
I'll be at Norwalk friday night, my dad's bringing out his 77 Vega for the second time down the track. If I get my bird fixed lol. Put my stock TPI back on, and realized I had a huge oil leak. Turns out, you have to go heavy on the RTV on the intake valleys...Got my car tore down and put back together in record time tonight though, roughly 2 hours to pull everything including the intake, and get it set back on, resealed, fuel rails on, distributor back, coolant system refilled, all connections plugged back in. I think I can have her finished up in about an hour. Getting really good at tearing down and rebuilding the top end of TPI!
Also, Mark, I figured out why I was running 6 degrees of knock lol. Before I fixed my High TPS code, I wasn't getting PE mode fuel or spark. Now that I'm getting those in, my timing is advanced a ton lol. I'll update my tuning progress tomorrow night, after this RTV fully sets up (24 hours).

Well, got everything put back in it's place again. Burned a few more chips, and I must say, this 305 really surprised me. It feels like a whole new car now. It'll burn the tires halfway through first from a stop, pushes through the RPMs with ease, and puts me back into the seat again. Oh how I missed this!

Re: Ohio?
well i finally got tired of the odd pedal feel
and i had been noticeing that my front rotors where heat fractured
so got new rotors all around new pads and a new master cyl
well it turns out even my worn out master is in better shape then "new" one as the rear brakes do not work at all and it took half the pedal stroke to even engage the brakes need less to say i put my old master back on i never give them a core if its only worth 5 bucks
so now my brakes are atlest back to how they where so i could go racing now

Well, not sure what is happening now. The weather is looking like crap out there all weekend, and the financial situation isn't looking good either at the moment. My new tune is here, just need a burner and someone who knows how to use it.

I think I have pretty much given up on making it to the track this year. Thompson is open for a few more weeks but i'm sure as hell not going back there. I'm just going to drive my car until the plates expire in november and put it away for the winter. Hopefully this winter I can get the few bugs I have left worked out. For some reason my brake light and ses light are on all the time.

Norwalk has 2 Test and Tune's left, this Friday and next. Other than that for us GM guys, all that's left is the Halloween Classic, which is 1/8th mile.

You definitely have an issue with that SES light. No codes, and my scanner refuses to read data from the ALDL.
Just keep workin on it buddy, we'll get'em down that 1/4 mile. I am set on it and must get some runs in before the year is up, considering the things I know now and can correct. I have my new tune that just needs burned, I found out it was shifting 500 RPM short, and a few other things.

The ses light being on really has me baffled. I just can't get it figured out. I think the brake light is from me messing with the parking brake. In the spring time I think i'm going to buy a donor GTA or formula to put all of my stuff into.

You don't need to get a whole new car though...Just work through the entire electrical system. Maybe the ECM itself is bad. I dunno, just throwing ideas out there.

I'm going to get another car because mine is in horrible shape body wise. It has tons of rust and floor rot, a cracked to hell wing, bad paint, etc etc. I will basically look for a really nice roller. And if I can't find one, i'll buy a really nice 3rd gen and put all of my stuff in it, and sell everything from that car. Or I might put all of those parts into my current car and try to sell it as a running car.

Re: Ohio?
yea its better, the upper class of third gens if u wanna put it that way? haha. buts its nice to have a shell with no rust, at least none that i have found yet! the 305 is still a 305 but its got more pep then the 305 throttle body in my camaro so i can live with it for awhile. got a few bugs to work out but after a new hood and fender and a paint job she will be a nice little car.

Re: Ohio?
Anyone know of tracks open for T&T 1/4 mile? Norwalk's last T&T was tonight, but they cut us down to 1/8th mile. I burnt a few more chips, and ran a 9.30 1/8th mile, with a 2.02 60'. That's good for nearly 14.5s if I did my math right. Considering my previous best is 14.86, that was with a 9.46 1/8th mile and 2.06 60'. Really want another 14 sec timeslip this year, and there's no way for me to get it at Norwalk. Looking mainly towards D42, I really don't want to drive more than an hour away lol.

have fun at 42..lmao.
Believe me your spoiled at norwalk. Be thankfull your only a 14/15 sec car because 100mph+ on that track is killer...lol Racing down that track is like racing down a country road and not a good one. Best of luck buddy. Get some 14's man!!!!

42 is not that bad. I have been going there since I was 15. Sure, it has it's bumps, but it's a good ole boy type of place, not a big, fancy, and rich track like norwalk. I like it there.
