Re: Ohio?

Anyone go to Quaker Steak & Lube in Valley View Ohio? I stopped up there today (after driving past every Monday since I got the car on the road) and met 2 guys. Good guys. One owned an under 40k 82 with working blisters, and the other an 84 he just bought last year that won 1st place at a Veterans Memorial show. Just curious if any of you are those guys. I drive right past this place from work every Monday. If any of you stop there, I'll stop up and see if you're there.

Mild is more than enough for this guy. I'll stop in every Monday, make my rounds. Maybe I'll see one of you there.

Re: Ohio?

A couple of pics. My car is back on the road finally. I brought it home this week from Big Dog Fabrication. The power steering pump leaked fluid into the alternator, alternator died, battery died... I didn't even make it home. Had to use another battery out of my uncles van to make it the rest of the way home. I should have everything squared away by monday. On monday i'm taking it down to my buddys house to get the first tuning done.

86Base and myself gave this bar stool a go. Kinda scary to ride actually.

Re: Ohio?

Alternator was shot so I had to buy another one. Fixed the leak in the ps reservoir with some plastic epoxy. No more leak, new alternator, everything is working pretty good.

Re: Ohio?

Chasing down a charging/grounding issue. Checked all the known grounds I replaced and still headlights dim and alternator isn't charging. Next is to try directly powering the alternator from the battery bypassing the junction. Anyone one to stop by, say Sup? Probably wash her good tomorrow too.

Correct, but I have a new one. I'm also thinking of scrapping it and just grounding it where that mounted. Also retorqued my headers and still leaking, but from the collector. 1 down, 1 to go. Probably just have to tighten them. I can feel the backfires coming out through the collectors, kind of feels weird. Another day.

Placing a Summit order for a new stat (195* with bypass) and some more detailing stuff from S.M.Arnold.

Re: Ohio?

Huh? Only grounds up front are for my fans and relays. I think I'm missing something from my setup. I'll post pictures a little later of everything. I do still have a few wires (cut and capped) that I never found out what they were for. Might have to go through all my wires again this weekend, post them up here and see what I'm missing. As I've stated before, when I bought the car there were a couple wires fried/melted to each other. The PO said it had a sound system, so I just figured they were extra wires, so I capped them and went on my way. Hmm.

Re: Ohio?

Just had Jamy knock out the first round of tuning on my car. It was running super rich and didn't have much timing. We got the speedo and tach adjusted, then I did some datalogging. He bumped the car up from 18 degrees timing to 23, and took out 15% of the fuel. Man did it make a difference, my car has better throttle response and crazy power. His adjustments to the tune make it feel like it has another 50 or so hp.

Finally. Probably stop by today, see if we can check my timing, maybe bump it up 2-4*? Need to look at my wiring diagram. We believe we found some grounds I have unhooked (unknown wires to me). Once I figure out the charging issue, I'll probably look into a new starter to complete the system.

We had a talk about door rattle, So I might buy some new bump stops and bumpers all around the car. Also after seeing darn near brand new interior, I want to clean mine. Correction, NEED to. So maybe pop out some interior panels this week and clean them up some.

Thanks Azrael91966669, we'll be close friends soon.

CashMunson, you make me want to get my wideband setup going sooner. Tuning sounds like fun.

Re: Ohio?

My hood latch rod bolts came out and so did the spacers. So I had to washer it up for now. Always busy when I try to make plans. I need to get these hood pins done sooner than later. I'll try again today to do what I wanted, yesterday.

Re: Ohio?

I'll let you know, since it's more of a finishing touch than a needed replacement. Trying to tighten the car up and get her ready for winter. Still have a bunch of little things to address before I add more parts to the install box. Would help if I had a garage I could use.

I grounded those wires we found, nothing seemed to have changed.

Re: Ohio?

what were the dr you had in the garage?

also I took off the factory base manifold chris you came over in the middle of it
I finished it around 6 am so im still up I took it for a few "quick" rides

the factory base was a major bottleneck apparently
I thought the super ram plenum and runners helped will they did they allowed it to keep making power till 55-5800 but swapping the base woke up the power

The tires in the garage are bf goodrich drag radials. They are 255/50/16. They are 12 years old but look like brand new. I think they have 3 passes on them, if that.

Selling some LS parts if anybody is interested. 317 heads complete minus rockers, truck intake complete with rails and injectors, lq4 stock cam, pushrods, lifters, oil pan, water pump. All of the lq4 parts have 72k miles. I also have an ls3 cam and pushrods from a 2012 camaro ss with 12k miles on them.

and then oddly it went away again lol apparently a vac leak woke up the power
because as soon as I fixed the vac leak ya the superram runner to base gaskets where the wrong size for the egr part both had the long gap
as soon as I replaced the gaskets boom power dropped again

I'm always out and about, seems like the shows I go too, no one else attends. Went to the Carnival of Wheels on Sept 7th and the Toth Buick Pontiac Show on Sept 14th.

BirdofFireBOb-do you ever go to the cruise in downtown Massillon on Sat nights? Planning on being there tomorrow.

are you using the correct water pump ? also make sure the base timing is still set to 0 as the tbi heads don't need much extra for advance

Nope, fixed itself for now. Seems to only leak when it gets really cold out. Just need wheels/tires right now, but I'm driving it.

so I put new plugs in tonight and went ahead and changed the suspect injector wire with a spare I had and what do you know the running like **** when hot issue went away
since I swapped the tpi back on for a bit I was able to stud the superram it seems like it will be so much easier to install and remove now

Re: Ohio?

Need to fix my china wall leaking, my collectors are leaking, have the exhaust straightened and aligned properly. Maybe this weekend I can get most of them done, the china wall may have to wait until I have a garage to put her in overnight just in case something happens (Right Morgan, haha).

I've been shifting manually in my 700R4 and now, when in overdrive, it seems like it almost wants to duplicate my shift points. Usually around 3k.

Adios.

Roosters in Canton? I live about 30 minutes away in Tuscarawas County and I commute to Canton for college, plus I go to Roosters about once a week. Haha. Haven't taken my bird on the highway much though. Slight radiator leak

Roosters cruise in is done for the season. Will start up again next year in May. Also Quaker Steak and Lube in North Canton has one every Sunday but I think they are done for the season also. Bring your Bird out next year. Lots of cool cars show up.

It's a pretty rough project at the moment. Driveable though. Hopefully it will be somewhat presentable by then. I've just been looking for groups around this area and the only ones I'm aware of are ones who meet at Sheetz in New Philadelphia. I'd like something strictly third gen or without ricers for once

Re: Ohio?

Hopefully going to hang out with Azrael this weekend. Get a few leaks fixed, a few parts tweaked. Also check timing, vacuum and fuel pressure. I really need to go all out on setting base specs for this car. Mufflers for less to fix the crooked exhaust install. They do good work. Exhaust needs to be tucked better. With only a few inches to work, I couldn't get my cat fit onto my y-pipe as far as I believe it should be. Anyway, tomorrow after 6pm starts the weekend. China wall Friday. Exhaust leak and fitment Saturday. Oil change, transmission adjustment and car cleaning Sunday.

Re: Ohio?

Azrael Did you ever make it to norwalk this year?

Update on the ohio thread here for my car. I got the old V6 into the 11s the other weekend. Made a few passes, all 11s with the best of 11.70@115mph. Running about 14.5psi. Nailed a 1.64 60 foot as a personal best in the V6. Foot brake start, no antilag or 2 step. I have one i can use but whats the point if i can mash a low 1.60. When ive messed with the 2 step you can see the fire comming out. Its a great 2 step that built in the stock 7730 running a $59 mask but Its hard on the valves and turbo so im not using it as of yet.

The video of the run is linked in my signature.
